I upgrade every year, so when my warranty is up, I'll be getting the 5S. Wonder what the custom anodized look would do for resale value. Guess it would be at a premium IF you find someone who would die for the color combination you chose for anodization.
In 1909, when buying a Model T from Henry Ford, a customer asked about paint options to which Mr. Ford responded: "Any customer can have a car painted any colour that he wants so long as it is black."
When I first started reading this thread I went in expecting to see pushback on the pricing as well as arguments justifying the cost based on the importance of personal choice.
What I wasn't expecting was a conversation about the limitations Apple has placed on the iPhone brand. And they have. But why?
I am pretty sure that iPhone demographics are now skewing older. Color choices seems like a no-brainer in attracting younger users. Yeah, I know, it isn't the panacea. The iPhone pricing has a heckuva lot more to do with who buys an iPhone than color choices. But there has to be some incremental bump if you offer a rainbow.
I guess the question ultimately is: would a rainbow of colors do more harm or good to the iPhone brand. I believe it would be an improvement.
You could take the phone apart yourself and send it in to get annoed for much cheaper without the color limitations. Even paying a shop to take it apart and put it back together again once annoed it would be much cheaper. probably 60-75 doing it yourself and 125 with help. That pricing with the color limitation is a rip off.
