The Silverburn units are really small, big space above them for company names but the stores themselves are tiny. It's a shame the style of Silverburn better suits Apple.

Apparently according to the Herald last year Princes Street is getting one

I would rather visit The Buchanan or a future Princes street one than one in Silverburn or Braehead. Shopping centres are hell on earth.

And as always in these threads I shall make a post lamenting the absence of stores and plans for stores in Sweden. They should at least open one in Stockholm!

Yes but when I was trying to get my Mac Pro to a car, Buchanan Street aint the best, until someone remembered I could go round to the back of the store. Also since my wife has a semi permanent residence in Braehead I look at it as my Creche :)

So glasgow, pop. 600k gets two stores and leeds population 800k gets none?

I was about to say that, until I saw this:

Two in Glasgow, but none in Edinburgh or any other part of Sotland. Smart.

Seriously?! Edinburgh doesn't have one?! That's insane!

But yeah, I still don't get why there isn't one in Leeds, the place currently occupied by Reiss would be perfect! Maybe they'll have one in the new shopping centre by the church on Boar Lane. That would be much less classy though :(

How is that more insane than Leeds not having one? Leeds is bigger...

Asshats.

Glasgow City has 600k...but Greater Glasgow is 1.3million as of 2010.

Its the 3rd biggest city in the UK so having 2 Apple stores is reasonable..

Population isn't really relative, I could be wrong but i suspect wealth (real or perceived) is a driver for the locations. After all the products are expensive.

Being able to source appropriate real estate is of course a factor as well. If the chaos with the insane tram project didn't exist im pretty sure there would already be a store on Princess Street in Edinburgh.

Aberdeen, remote as far as the UK and world is concerned but its the oil capital of Europe and an incredibly wealthy city. No coincidence that there is an apple store there.....

Why you say this? Is not crazy place like greece or france with riots. Is lovely place.

What the?

Well it is really....Edinburgh is the English capital of Scotland ;)
The only reason the Parliament was seated in Edinburgh is because of ancient law.

And the capitals before Edinburgh were Dunfermline, Scone and Stirling. Glasgow has never been the capital.

There is an Apple store in Aberdeen.

Apple will be holding out on a suitably impressive shop in Edinburgh. The Buchanan St store is one of the best shops i have been into, the interior stone walls and spiral glass staircase look great.

And before all that you had Dumbarton as the capital of Strathclyde and always an important royal base, see every day is a school day :)

Knowing Apple, they'll be like 'this castle looks great and and Apple store would just set it off'

this is totally idiotic! This is glasgow's second apple store and edinburgh is just 30 minutes away and there's no apple store except of a bad managed cancom UK store which is a small reseller!

Well aren't the old Burger King and Boots units at the East end of Princes St, across from the Balmoral Hotel not been ear marked for the Embra Apple store??

Isn't Braehead half empty these days? But then again, you can always pop over to IKEA for some flat pack furniture and meatballs if you still have cash after buying some Apple products!

As a Weegie living in Embra, the tourist tat tartan and bagpipes do my head in!!! Glasgow's miles better! ;)
