Hahaha! afd, you're my hero. Can't believe how many people are taking the bait.

Glasgow gets two and Edinburgh gets none because, well because we're just better than you. :D

for f sake! Glasgow don't need 2 Apple stores. nobody goes to Braehead. and the Buchanan store is filled with people from edinburgh. so really what they need is an Apple store in edinburgh

Two in Glasgow, but none in Edinburgh or any other part of Sotland. Smart.

Aberdeen is part of Scotland, you know.

----------

So glasgow, pop. 600k gets two stores and leeds population 800k gets none?

Asshats.
I'm not saying Leeds doesn't deserve one, but you're quoting the population of the cities and ignoring the connurbations they are at the centre of. Damn near half the population of Scotland surrounds Glasgow.

----------

Nope, coz since you brought up metropolitan boroughs, which are a much more realistic way to judge the size of a place over ancient city limits, Greater Manchester has 2.3million people, despite our tiny City centre only having 400,000. Oh and we've had two Apple stores for years :D
"Greater Glasgow" isn't the entire connurbation. It's an artificial entity created for the purposes of the NHS and other local government nonsense.

The Glasgow connurbation has a population of 2.3-2.4 million.

You also have to consider that Apple may have intentions for some towns and cities for which they have yet to locate a suitable location. The order stores are built is not necessarily the order they are planned in.

I don't even want to contemplate the idea of heading to Glasgow in fear of getting a glass bottle up the chin and finish up somewhat like Gordon Ramsay!

Population of Scotland: 5.2m
Number of murders in 2009: 79
Victims per 1m: 15 (source)

Population of London: 7.5m
Number of murders in 2009: 146
Victims per 1m: 19.4 (source)

I can break it down any way you want, GHB, ABH, assualt, you are safer coming to Glasgow.

Nice Pics. Were there many people attending the grand opening? Hard to tell what size the crowd was.

That doesn't mean anything unless you give figures for Glasgow specifically, not just for all of Scotland. For all we know 78 of those murders were in Glasgow! I'm not saying that's likely, I've never been murdered in Glasgow and I don't know anybody who has been, but the figures you've provided don't prove anything relevant to this rather silly argument.

Even if all the murders were in Glasgow the figures are still better!

I couldn't get figures for Glasgow only (and bearing in mind the Braehead store isn't in Glasgow) and the OP didn't state their location to use as a comparison so I went with Scotland and London, a region with a similar population size to Scotland (which has 5 Apple Stores to Scotland's 3).

The point I was making is people state 'ooh I don't want to go to Glasgow in case I get stabbed' but don't back it up with anything other than conjecture. 'No Mean City' (the period when knife crime was prevalent in Glasgow) was pre-1970s and was one gang member attacking another gang member. I don't see anybody here saying they wouldn't go to a London Apple Store in case they got shot.
