You're arguing stuff I never said. I never said anyone broke a promise and I never said I was entitled to anything. My only qualm is that since the preorders started, it's been really difficult to get a specific date. Sooner the better, but I really just want to know when to expect it so I can plan around it.
Get off your high horse

you have to get off yours first. ;) I know it's easy to feel outraged over the fact Apple didn't ship your device first but there is nothing anyone can do about it. Apple is doing the best it can. Getting angry doesn't make things any easier for anyone else.

Oh please, give it a break, don't you know that when they are actually shipping you will get a notice and you can actually track it on it's way to your house? And if you are really, really worried about, then wait until August and go into a store and buy one then. Oh let me guess, "but I want it nooooowww, and I deserve to be told exactly when it will show up."

I am really excited by this product and launch and as mentioned before, it is like watching the Santa Tracker at Christmas time. I just think it is comical how so many people here feel entitled to get it when they want it.

----------

Got it!!
So unless they could meet ALL orders they should not stop shipping any orders on the 24th.

So in your world, the quoted shipping date should have been something like

4/24/2018 - 5/8/2018

Your points are really irrelevant. You presume to know too much about my schedule or my ability to plan. Why are you being a jerk about it? Go to another thread

I didn't know that you are new to online ordering.

Getting things from Amazon or eBay or Newegg or BestBuy or any other online store is no different.

If you can't plan around getting a notice about a delivery and a tracking number and a website where you can find out when the package is scheduled for delivery, then maybe you should just wait until it is available in the store.

----------

Everyone really seems to be blindly ignoring the 13 other dates included in the range of April 24 through May 8. ... Apple never promised that everyone would get the watch on launch day.

I think a lot of reasonable people here understand that.
The issue is that there are unreasonable, entitled people ("but, but, but, I ordered early!") that are always the most vocal.

Hard to get any traction in a thread that starts:

"My watch is showing up in the next 14 days" vs. "Why, why oh why, am I not yet charged for the watch"

----------

Then people could have had a little more confidence in them throughout this agonizing week.

If anyone is actually agonized over this, then they need to find a mental health app, maybe even one that integrates to the watch.

Alexandra is the same woman who contacted me. I gave her a call tonight to ask about my order and why some people who ordered after me are getting their Watches before. I left her a voicemail, and I'll let you guys know when I hear back.

I was pretty skeptical initially about the report from the other guy who emailed Tim Cook and got a call from an executive relations team member, but taking his cue, I sent a similarly assertive, disgruntled email to tcook@apple.com, specifically commenting on the space grey model's lack of updates. To be honest, like many of you, I care way more about playing with a new  product than i do about which color it is, and I expressed that  had been transparent about the availability I may have chosen another model.

I sent it a couple days ago. To my surprise, I got a phone call from a "Grapevine, TX" number, and a woman with a very strong french accent told me she was from Apple's Executive Relations Team.

OKAY SO, Here's the info she gave me

There have been some issues with my "specific configuration", meaning the 38mm Space Grey Sport, and they are working as fast as they can to get them out. She re-iterated that the two week delivery window is very much an added cushion, and it will be very unlikely first wave orders will be delivered later than next week.

She also told me something that I hope is true, but seems contradicted by some posts I've seen here, assuming everyone here has been honest. She told me that exact order times are being honored very diligently, according to model. She specifically told me, and I quote, "No person who ordered the space grey 38mm sport model after you will receive it before you"

Maybe this is boring, but as I found it rather exciting, I thought I'd Share

UPDATE: She just sent me an email, I'll include the text here for completionism's sake. (I was wrong about French. It was a Portuguese accent)

Dear Sean,

Thank you again for your time and for bringing your concerns to my attention. Please contact me if you have any additional questions about your order.

I can be reached at 512-674-****. I am available Monday through Friday, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m CST.

To avoid confusion, my voicemail message is in both Portuguese and English with the Portuguese positioned first.

Kind regards,

(I edited out her personal details because i think I'm supposed to?)

Apple has millions of preorders and you're emailing the CEO because you want have a watch on day 1 of a 14 day window? What an immature, self aggrandizing baby.

Because the demand/supply for your watch style is greater/less than others?

It seems like this should be some sort of public statement by Apple or at least something they tell to some select media outlets to at least explain the how/why of the shortages. Right now it's been a whole lot of "processing", then the "letter-by-committee" reminding us of the launch "window", and a lot of conjecture.

It shouldn't take a Tim Cook email and a call from an Executive Relations person to get this type of information in the first place.

Condescending, unnecessary, and not really 100% on the point. This is something for which people are spending arguably large amounts of money, something that was advertised as a 4.24 launch for weeks before preorders went live. Its a package you have to sign for, so for planning's sake it would be nice to have something more firm than a two week window. I've been preordering from  for years and really never seen anything like this launch.

People are excited for this product, and if you don't want to share in that excitement, then this forum is really not for you

Being excited for a product and throwing a whiny tantrum when you don't get your way are not exactly the same thing.

1. yes. its a 2 week window BUT its unfair for people that put the effort to pre-order on the dot to be shoved around compared to those who pre-ordered later and are getting their watches as we speak.

2. you said you want to be transparent, tim, BE transparent.

3. this call content should've been what was emailed out. not that fluff marketing piece.

Life isn't fair.

Also, at some point after you get your watch you won't remember all this needless anguish you're putting yourself through.

Have we seen a single instance of a person with a late delivery date getting a shipment notification before someone with an earlier date and the exact same model?

Yes, at least one:

I was pretty devastated after the email of death last night. Fortunately this afternoon my card was charged, and I've shipped baby!

I ordered the same watch, :08 confirmation email, "EOD", no CC charge and still pending status.

i'd agree that life isnt fair for point 1. some posters need to take that into account instead of defending :apple:.

more importantly, i just wish point 2 and point 3 could be addressed by :apple:.

The irony. You're truly making the world a better place

He was still in the same date range though. Confirmation email times are just an approximation.

This should make us feel a bit better

None in the stores selling it today!

Huh, interesting - no models that come with a black sport band, not even SS. I was figuring the delay was related to the space grey anodizing procedure, but maybe it's the band? Or possibly both.

Neither. They just started making them a few weeks ago. All of the black bands I've seen so far were made last week. Pretty crazy.

Why wouldn't they want to make the most popular first? Who knows.

I ordered the Watch 42MM Black Sport version April 11 so the day after at 2pm circa (EST time)...so far nothing, it is stuck till processing.

Apple told me though that someone is being charged only when the product is shipped but no when is preparing to be shipped.

Seems like there are multiple bottlenecks. Steel cases, black bands and pink bands. Pink sport is the one model I haven't seen anybody getting (aside from SS space black which we always knew would be late.)

That's standard procedure, but I've seen iPhone preorders get charged, then the charged removed, and then I actually received the phone on launch day before the charge was reinstated.

Moral of the story is no one at Apple understands what is going on, other than a few select top executives.

Over on the pink band thread we have concluded that virgins blood and/or unicorns tears are being used to make the bands #
