Its probably going to have a camera for Facetime as well as some memory and CPU upgrades. But probably not much else.
More RAM?
Dual core CPU?
Improved screen?
Thinner?
Lighter?
Camera?
Video out?

What more does it really need? Seems like a decent upgrade to me, but those with buyers remorse will always try to convince themselves otherwise.

To the OP, wait for iPad 2. Oh, and we don't need stupid, "in that case, wait for iPad 3, then iPad 4" comments either.

The question is do you want to do without an iPad for 2+ months? I opted for an ipad in January and have not regretted the decision one bit. Its a great device.

So far the update rumors have been meager at best. If we're talking about a higher res display that would be one thing but so far what's floating around hasn't been earth shattering.

Faster processor (maybe dual-core maybe no)
more ram
thinner
camera (1mp camera - big whoop)

The ram and cpu maybe an upgrade but for me it wasn't enough to do without such a great device for several months.

You make it sound like "doing without" is a life-or-death situation. Anybody who has yet to buy an iPad has "done without one" for their entire life. You really think 2 or 3 months is any real hardship?

As for the "big whoop", clearly you are concerned that what you just bought will be out-dated in a couple of months with something better. The camera is not for taking photos, it's for video calls, and for that purpose, 1mp will be ample. Besides, it's funny how you question my call on the dual core CPU, but you seem to have it as fact that the camera (if there is one) will be 1mp... Selective ignorance?

Its not a real hardship - if the OP wants to wait, let him wait. My point was that the meager updates to the iPad 2 are such that I and many others are enjoying the iPad now.

Why the hostility to those people who espouse the idea of getting the device now, as opposed to waiting?

Waiting it out

Though there are lots of good points, for and against,....consensus seems to be wait it out---probably will be sooner rather than later, and the change in weight and RAM will make it worth wait. Don't you wish we had a friend in upper echelons of Apple? ;)

To the op...I decided to just buy a refurbished 32gb version for $100 off. If a new one come out in the next few months that is "that" much better, I'll just buy the new one when it comes out. My suggestion is, if your really want one that bad and have and willing to, spend the extra cash when the new one comes out if it's that much better, buy a refurbished one.

Another option is to buy now if you don't want to wait and if the iPad2 has features that you must have, the sell the older one to offset the cost of purchasing the iPad2

No, too close. I've a feeling now the Verizon iphone launch is out of the way, version 2 is coming soon.

Chill for a little longer, hide your credit card, and find some anti-iPad buying patches or gum.

You look like you have a good setup already and your not going to die without it.

There's a Buddhist mantra about desire bringing unhappiness.
The more you crave it the unhappier you become.

Don't thing the Buddha had an iPad. :D
