“Up to 1 million dollars for a hashtag” ? That is crazy. I know Apple has the money but, I wouldn’t have paid anywhere near that amount. I would use that 1 million in other more practical ways.
Thanks for the post, maybe you're the person I need... can you please explain what a company gets for their $1M when they buy a hashflag, because I googled it, and can't work it out? It seems like they get a hashtag with an emoji attached to it? Is that it???
I doubt it means anything more than the usual thing with Captain Crook. The rainbow is a symbol used by the LGBT community, and Crook loves shoving that out into the public at every chance he can get. Don't shoot the messenger, I'm just pointing out what should be obvious.
The original rainbow logo was introduced in 1977 and was used for 21 years before being replace with the mono color version.
Excellent post, Rob. Gay-bashing has no place here— or anywhere for that matter — but it's even worse when it's accompanied by blatant historical ignorance!
I don't disagree. That doesn't mean that it now hasn't been twisted for exactly the reasons I stated.

Ha, you're the one who is clearly triggered, not me. I'm neither homophobic, not homophobic-phobic, I'm merely pointing out the obvious. Captain Crook is gay. The rainbow is a symbol used by the gay community. Crook loves wheeling out the rainbow at every opportunity. Obvious as tits on a bull. You parading a bunch of multi-coloured non-rainbow apples like it's the Sydney Mardi Gra doesn't change a thing. As an analogy, the strong symbolism of a "red rose", is not destroyed by the fact that there are also other coloured roses. Again, don't shoot the messenger.
Well yea, it IS all about the hype. I'm not blind, I can see how Apple is milking their brand recognition regardless of whatever tosh they put out
And don't forget Tim is designing for maximum revenue directly. Based on the way Tim simps rush to use profit as evidence of quality, did this news mean everyone's devices automatically got a specs boost?
