Hehehe.

Wait, the people who make the drives, have they made a 40 GB one yet?

I mean that is how we knew it last time.

😱

If am a correct, in the months leading to the unvieiling of the new 3g iPods in April, didn't Toshiba announce on their website that they had created a 40GB harddrive, with the same specs as the HDs used in the iPod. So everyone was announcing this was assurance that the iPod in April with feature 40GB models, but it didn't happen. My guess is that Apple has these HDs stocked away for a time later than the April release date. In a buisness sense, they figured lets take our time expanding the HD sizes so we won't get too ahead of ourselves. Release a 10, 15, and 30GB models, then later release 15, 30, and 40GB models. Give Toshiba an edge to create a larger HD capacity. So even though, I'm not quite sure to trust AppleTurns source, 40GBs will come, if not Monday, then soon, possibly at the upcoming Expo in Paris, or certainly MacWorld SF 04. That's my take.

It is a 40 GB iPod. I can guarantee it will happen. I heard it from a very reliable source within Apple. I'm not saying that there won't be a PB announcement or other new announcements. They could happen as well, but I know for sure there will be 40 GB iPods. Sweet!

You sound like Macwhispers from back in the spring.

why would apple announce any new hardware when Steve Jobs is doing a keynote the following week? He's gotta have something to talk about. And being the showman that he is he'll want it to be something people have been waiting for.

I'd have to agree. It's possible new hardware will be announced next week, but not likely. Let's hope it's the new 15" PowerBooks. What else have people been wanting updated more?

It's iPod RAID, of course

What would you use the bluetooth for?!?! Bluetooth is very, very slow. Slower than USB 1.1. Why on earth would you want it? I guess maybe for syncing notes and contacts, I'll give you that much.

[edit] A while ago, way back before iPod 3G, there was leaked data about a 40GB drive from Toshiba, I believe, who made all the drives before that. [/edit]
no, i would want it so you can use it in your car without connecting anything.

new powerbooks monday. new new powerbooks next week!

Apple will release new powerbooks on monday, and new new powerbooks following week. Don't you see....Apple is screwing with our heads.

If they release the new powerbook monday, don't be sucker, and buy one right away. Wait for the new new powerbook on the 16th.

Bring on the updates, we've been out of the 15" and 12" for some time now, but then so has the channel! iPods, 40gb, if true I'll have to pick up one of the first out there, 10GB was once to big but seems so small now...

Bluetooth remote. Bluetooth headphones/handsfree. Ideally ones that would mute when your bluetooth phone rang, pausing the ipod until your call ended. I wish.

Enough with this. Forget G4 15" Aluminium PowerBook. Instead, speed up the release of G5 15" PowerBook!

Oh come on! It's obvious!

Apple will announce the PB updates on Monday. They'll also announce speed bumps for the rest of the mac product line.

At Paris, SJ will unveil all the new bluetooth goodies, including a headset for the newly announced iPod rev 4. He will also announce the new Apple vPod (a video version of the iPod) and Apple pPod phone. These will all interact with the new bluetooth accessories and the pPod will have a special remote coffee monitoring facility that allows you to track the progress of your filter machine whilst out of the office via the newly announced cPod accessory.

And one more thing... 🙂

The all new Apple Blueton. Yes a bluetooth enabled Newton update that is seemlessly integrated with the new pPod allowing instant hi-res access to all your favourite pr0n^H^H^H^Hweb sites.

Oh, and of course everyone will have received their G5's by then, I will have won the lottery and the alien invasion will have truly begun in earnest.

🙂

I have my eyes on the pPod, which is actually a suit connected to your loved one far away using AirportExtreme. Steve said that he has used it himself, and that everyone at Apple is using it now.

Seriously folks. They said this will be "Year of the Laptops." Now this so called "Year of the Laptops" doesn't have many months left and all we are hearing is delays. What could Apple possibly do to make it up to us?

No, don't do that -- it will slow the G5 production line even more! 😀

Has Apple Turns ever been wrong on a rumor?

He he. okay, you must be kind of a n00b. 😀 j/k. 😛 would you trust a recklessly uncomfirmed rumor coming from someone in a blue tux, running around with a pineapple? of course not, they even said it themselves, never trust people with pineapples. ha ha, that reminds me of Littel Nicky, man i love that movie. "Ok Hitler, choose a pineapple. No, too small... that's more like it..." 😱 😀

the new Blueton, you heard it first from esheep2001

w00t!! 😀 1 l1k3 7h3 s0und of 7h47!! 😀

now i'm all readied for new 15" AlBooks on Monday!!! w00t! w00t!! 😀

A woman in a Apple resellerstore in Europe said to a guy I know that he should wait to get his PowerBook because it's a new comming pretty soon! Around 16th is the date she gave.
If it's thrue i dont know, but why would she tell if it was not thrue?

Hey maybe the new trackpad has--ohmigod, are you ready for this--two buttons! (What is the world coming to?) Or maybe it has those new window scrolling doodads I've seen on some Intel laptops.

But what I absolutely must have is a higher screen resolution. Unfortunately it seems the rumormongers have been mute on this, other than the disappointing report that it's still a 15.2" screen. We can only hope it's an improved 15.2" screen.

A G5 is not essential. A G4 @ 1.25GHz with L3 cache and a faster frontside bus would easily be twice as fast as my 800 MHz 15" iMac, so I'll have my credit card out and ready.

A two-button trackpad compromise

The whole two-button mouse/trackpad thing really freaks Steve out. But control-clicking is incredibly annoying, especially considering just about all apps use the right mouse button nowadays.

How about a compromise, Stevie?

Why not ship a dual-button trackpad on the new PowerBooks but, by default, the right button is set up to act as a left button. This would make the two buttons appear to be a single button to a new user (and Steve). That is, a click on either button acts as a left mouse click. Then, in the Preferences, you could set up the right button to be a real right click. (Just as nowadays you can set up the trackpad to accept a tap as a click.)

This solves the problem without making it harder for anyone. Newbies get the same old (virtual) single button, but advanced users get the advantage of two buttons.

They could even make it a rocker button so that it still appears to be a single button, but a click on the left is different from a click on the right. Apple's good at that sort of trickery.😎

Nothing. All the stuff is comin' out in the Paris Expo

Not necessarily.

Why would Apple even want to announce a tepid PowerBook update at the Paris Expo, given all the pent-up frustration? Jobs would be laughed off the stage. It's more plausible that they'll announce updated G4 PowerBooks this coming week and reserve something more exciting (new iPod accessories, ITMS for Europe?) for the Expo.

I'd love to be proven wrong and see Steve launch a G5 PowerBook, but I just don't think it's gonna happen.

AtAT is NOT a rumor site

Jack at AppleTurns reads other rumor sites and writes (great) humor based on it. Hence it's moronic at best that macrumors posts "rumor site Apple Turns..." Then again, macrumors actually doesn't itself uncover any new dirt but rehash someone elses (usually highly inaccurate) reports so I guess in some twisted Bizarro logic even Zippy would rebuke, one could loosly call AppleTurns a rumor site.

But you'd still be wrong.

I'll have to agree with you on that. PB updates make sense for early next week, so that there are plenty on stock on the floor of the Expo (selling like hot cakes). I can definitely see ITMS Europe being announced and Panther orders being taken for a mid-Oct shipping date...

My 2 pennies...
