"I just stare at my desk, but it looks like I'm working."

"I just...space out." Classic. I remember the first time I watched it - downloaded in .avi on Scour Exchange or Kazaa on my 733 Mhz IBM NetVista PIII running Win 2k Pro. Summer '01, I'd say. Being able to download a movie in [almost] DVD quality seemed too good to be true.

To me, the fax machine now represents "AI".

If a piece of software like this came out on the scene 5 years ago, people would be losing it. Funny how people accllimatize to the surrender of privacy for sake of features.

Claude is the best out of all Gen AI. So worth the Max Plan I am using.
I mean this in the nicest possible way, but how do you find Claude worth paying for? Yeah, it's nice for vibe coding small projects that are relatively inconsequential, but otherwise it's basically the unholy spawn of Google's top 3 search results, a few random Reddit comments, and Clippy.

I don’t see the point. Other than to make lawyers rich trying to undo erroneous things AI did on your behalf.

And then there’s the whole other dark side. Where unscrupulous individuals try to use it as an excuse to wriggle out of commitments they really did make - by blaming it on the AI. “Well I didn’t agree to buy xyz online - so I’m not paying and if you want it back you’ll need to come over and pick it up.”

I also shudder to think what could happen if AI on my Mac started replying to phishing or junk emails.

“You are absolutely right! I accidentally permanently deleted all your emails, Dave!”
It’s funny how people interpret HAL in the movie as cold and calculating, but it’s very much passive aggressive and stubborn, with a dry sarcastic wit. A most overrated movie, in my opinion. Many people like it cause others do. Their tastes in movies are too easily influenced by others.
