I recommend avoiding Sophos, as it can actually increase a Mac's vulnerability, as described here and here.I do run AV on my iMac. (Sophos anti-virus for Mac - it's free.) Occasionally it picks up on an attachment to a spam email that it identifies as being malware. Even on the assumption that it couldn't do any harm to my Mac, there is always the possibility of sharing emails with others who use Windows, and it might harm them.
I let the Windows users worry about Windows malware.
No, not if you practice safe computing, as described in post #11 of this thread. While Anti-Virus programs are a waste of space on OS X, do i need a program that searches for other malware like trojans?

Alright thanks![]()
I'm practicing safe computing, but paranoid like I am I ran Malwarebytes Anti-Malware software every now and then when i worked with Windows.
Isn't there a similar program to OSX just to check in order to be 100% there's nothing there.

Lol - I just pick up the pieces from customers afterwards! I tell them in future to use a standard account if they need to frequent those places again or better still use their iPad![]()
I think the simple rule is that when an "adult" website tells you to install some software in order to see naughty pictures or watch naughty videos, then don't.
