The iPod Touch is 64GB because it has 2 memory slots, and the iPhone only has one. It seems that when there is a new size of microSD card coming out, then the iPhone gets updated memory. I haven't heard of a 64GB microSD yet. I'm not ready for the iPhone 4, so it's easy for me to wait for next years model with 64GB.

microSD is not related to iPhone NAND developments.

Also, AFAIK, no other phone maker is using anything higher than 16 GB NAND in their phones (Palm being the only 16 GB I can think of).

any 64gb iphone 4 rumors?

hey. i'm craving for a new iphone 4 but still waiting for the 64gb version. how come they didn't put a toshiba 64gb nand chip in there? they double it every year. a big disappointment.
in 15 dec 2009 it was published that toshiba made a 64gb chip. a few days ago i've read that there is a new 128 gb chip and will be mass producted in next few months. how come apple didn't adopt the 64 yet?
and another thing.. any news about software fix of the antenna issue on this monday?

thx

I haven't heard any rumors, but my guess is there would be a 64 GB version available for Christmas or in January.

I wonder this as well. And I especially if the iPod touch will be doubling or not in September. I suppose if it doubles than Apple will be trying to get people to buy both an iPod touch and an iPhone, and if it doesn't double than Apple will be "doing what it needs to do to keep prices down" (similar to their no camera excuse from last year [I would guess that's their excuse this time with the iPhone 4]).

I see 64GB iPhone 5 in June 2011 and a 128GB iPhone 6 in June 2012.

You can take that to the bank!

When they do finally produce a 64 MB iPhone, I sure hope they get the sync speed cranked up. My piddly 16 GB 3G takes forever to transfer songs, apps, and photos. I'd have to let it sync overnight, if it had 64 GB.

Seems they only up the capacity every other version. So probably next year.

Not sure the iPhone will ever get to 128GB, not b/c it will not be technically or financially feasible, but b/c by the time it is there not be huge demand for that type of storage. It's clear that Apple/Jobs believe streaming is the future. And of course studios love it b/c it's the ultimate DRM, and Cellcos lust over customers using so much data that is now bought in set buckets. It's the perfect storm.

I dont think you'd need to worry about sync speeds on a 64MB phone :D

Cool! That's another tick in the "time to get a new iPhone" column. :)

I upgraded from my 3G. I didn't really think I needed to upgrade, but I was able to get $150 for my 3G, so I thought "why not?". I have no regrets about this new phone. It feels screaming fast and the camera is great (I never used my 3G's camera).

Why no 64GB model?

Please, forgive my ignorance if this is a stupid question, but it is an honest one. Why does a 64GB iPhone not exist? I thought the prototype that the guy lost in the bar had like an 80GB drive.

Right now I use a 64GB iPod touch, but I'm looking to get an iPhone as soon as either: A)my Verizon contract ends, or B)Verizon gets the iPhone.

I already have more than 32GB worth of stuff on my iPod touch (about 40GB in all, I think), so the iPhone really wouldn't be that practical to me, and this is quite annoying.

I'm sure that other people have this problem. How do you get around it?

Storing only selected songs instead of whole song collection takes care of my problem. Apps and photos don't take much space at all for me.

Probably because Apple thought they're making the new phone attractive enough without having to double the memory capacity? This way they can do just that for the iPhone 5 release....

My iPhone 3G is only 16GB and I'm managing to put most of what I need on it. You just need to be selective. But yes, I would also like a 64GB iPhone.

I feel as the reason they left out the 64gig model is cost. Wouldnt it raised the price even more? I'm not an expert but is the 64 gig chip and the 32 the same size or is the 64 bigger. That would be a problem too since they had to keep the space small.
