If AT&T knows we all been wanting On mms since 3.0 came out.. And now a couple of days before the media event they come out and say Sept 25.. Any of you think it was a marketing scheme of some sort ad launch it today!? That way they could say that it was launched ahead of schedule..etc..

I do not agree with you OP. I believe AT&T needs these last few weeks for fine-tuning.

WTF can they fine tune? All they doing is adding more bandwith to sale sites.. There's no way to prepare for it.. They have very few people even probably Even testing it. I still think that they are going to launch it today

Ok, so what degree is it that you have in telecommunications?
I'd rather them hold out and make sure all the bugs are worked out than have it a few weeks early and their network collapses.

I don't have a degree in telecommunications but I do think AT&T is trying to make up for what they did.. Announcing it at this media event alongside 3.1 would be the smartest thing AT&T would ever do.. Even if their not completly finished doing whatever they are doing. They should atleast have ALL the major markets finished by now..
And here's another question.. What's the difference between us sending pictures through our email and mms? I mean we still using AT&Ts network to send the picture!!!! So it's still going to be the same strain on the network...

Really? Do you REALLY think AT&T has to upgrade their towers for the iPhones to send MMS? If you really believe that I have some ocean front property in Arizona that I can sell you!

All AT&T really needs to do is remove the block on your account and you can then send/receive MMS. AT&T is simply pulling a tactic Apple likes to use, not in the same exact way, where Apple likes to withhold firmware updates on older model computers/iPhones to get you to buy the latest and greatest.

AT&T's true reason behind the delays.... it's anybody's guess.

Or perhaps the electric engineers know something you don't like wavelengths and proper communication systems.

I am studying for that and AT&T's reason for delaying MMS is very valid. Although I doubt it a but because they haven't released any numbers, but it is very valid.

    Uh...yeah.

Did you not notice the 75% reduction in 3G speed from last year to this year?

They're overwhelmed with traffic and trying to dig themselves out of the hole they've gotten themselves into.

Part of that was delaying iPhone MMS because they knew it would put a ton of traffic on their network, so they put it off until they could upgrade their bandwidth and get some of the 1900 Mhz frequenceis online.

Why is that so amazing to you that you can't believe it?

That's right make a movie and say it'll be out on the 25th. Put that on their AT&T website. And then come to the Apple Event and annnounce, "You know what, we were funnin' with ya, it's out today...yay!" Take the tin hat off; it ain't happenin'. :)

I really don't believe it'll happen. But if it did, it would certainly make a lot of people forget about how late they already are.

While email and MMS might use AT&T's bandwidth - the data nor is the transport method the same.

Pegging a fall launch date when late summer was announced... ? If that's a marketing scheme, then it's a bad one.

i still don't see the big fuss about MMS.

    think about it.

anyone with a nice phone now-a-days has a nice email client.

anyone who can't email on their phone, usually have crappy nokia phones that takes 128x128 pictures. they take pictures then text/email the pictures to themselves for viewing on a computer.

i can't think of a reason i'd want a picture on my phone and not my email. i mean maybe if i'm being sneaky or something but still.

People should really stop trying to argue about this.

It's been thought about. People want it. Get over it and move on.

While I do not believe they will and the people being able to do MMS is purely coincidental.

It might be entirely possible that Apple pressured AT&T into getting it going now since we all know it actually works (many of us myself included can and do send MMS) Or they have removed the MMS block early as a preparation for the 25th seeing as most of the iPhone users in the U.S can't send MMS anyways because they lack the required carrier file to unlock that feature in the OS.

    Nice snarky remark.

If you realize it, why are you trying to convince them they don't? You think the people who do want it want it for no reason and are just scrambling for the latest blessing from Apple?

    Gimme a break man.

And why do they even come into this thread? However, they're Apple fanboys, so they think if Steve Jobs doesn't think we need MMS, then we must not need MMS. It's really a waste of time arguing with them.
