EDIT: To fast charge FROM a Mac would require the Mac utilizing USB-PD standard. Not sure if it does or not.

Awesome. I bet with the new iphones this year we will get a USB-C to lightning in the box. makes sense.

I highly, highly doubt that. A vast supermajority of computers and accessories don't use USB-C connectors. What it should be is an option. Either a USB-C or USB-A packaged in the box.

can you imagine if that was an option? unless they offered both, because picking that at checkout would be a headache.

Too many SKU’s for them to do that.

I think we will see more wireless options before usb c. Wi-Fi sync via iTunes has been my preferred method of transfer from iTunes for years. And now with iCloud services and Apple Music I never connect to iTunes.

they can just include a usb-a to usb-c dongle and give us all that fast charging wire. I think that be best bet.

Is there such a thing as a USB C to USB A adapter?

Like there’s a lightning to micro USB currently, could that work?

I think you misinterpreted the post you are quoting, or the article. That is referencing the lightning port, not the cable itself. What you quoted wants the USB-C/Lightning cable, what you posted was replacing the lightning cable altogether with USB-C.

Yes, apologies, was too early in the morning.

No, what it should be for a $1000 phone is both USB-C and USB-A cables (or one + an adapter) in the box as standard. You know, like other, non-trillion-dollar, companies manage to include with $100 USB-C hard drives...

If caring about customers was an issue, the iPhone 7 should have adopted USB-C as its built-in socket, before people started buying lightning headphones/adapters/docks to deal with the loss of the headphone socket. However, I guess Apple are still making money from licensing the lightning connector...

There’s been lots of rumours of new chargers this year, so I think it’ll go USB-C to lightening.

It should have done it when the X launched, they’re at least a year late.

I think there’s a good chance that the bundled cable and adapter this year will switch to USB-C.

I would imagine this years iphone models will have a usbc to lightning cable in the box. I would make sense with macs being mostly usb-c only now. I'll probably pick up a 3rd party cable to sell with my 6S and keep the genuine apple cable as my rmbp is the 2014 model.

Apple could include a usb-c to a adaptor but that's probably unlikely.

I hope they won’t. The lightning plug is quite indestructible, but look at the usbc plug, there is this little board in the middle that is quite easily breakable ( years of fixing those bl..dy usb plug, make me allergic to these fixing nightmare)

Umm super majority ? A lot of computers have at least usb C 3.1 type 1 connectors. My Acer Nitro 5 has one and its $799 msrp laptop for gaming

What ? They are far from indestructible.
