I am not a mac owner yet, but I am excellent bargain shopper....lol.
P.S. Is there much diffence from the left over 2.4 and 2.5 ghz Mac Pro's out there. Is the 2.5 worth the extra 100-150 bucks?
I rarely do more than web surf with multiple tabs, use Itunes, and definitely not a gamer. I have a PS3 for that![]()
I like to lounge on couch and surf while I watch TV![]()
EDIT: BTW- the following info would not apply to the suspected scammers since they are not a major buyer of Apple products. I was just addressing the MacMall part of your question.
...Moving to Japan and can leave my HP on the ship for work, etc....
[Visitor] HI i am very interested in your computer? Where are you all located
[Visitor] ?
[Operator] Hello, how may I help you?
[Operator] Portland, Oregon
[Visitor] OH Great!
[Visitor] do you all do pick up?
[Visitor] like do you have a store?
[Operator] We don't have a store. We are online retailer only.
[Operator] Since you are in NC seems like that would be a long drive!
[Operator] if your in the area, I would be glad to bring you a unit or meet at a location.
[Visitor] My mother lives in Portland thank you.
[Operator] great.
[Visitor] Wow. you all have a great staff. Good luck scamming the country.
[Operator] I realize you came from the Mac Rumor site which is roasting us currently.
[Operator] Nice
[Visitor] hahahahahahah'
[Operator] what is with the attitude there?
[Visitor] yep
[Visitor] we will put you out
[Visitor] dont worry
The operator has ended the chat. Thanks for contacting us.
hahahahah LOVE it!
So they knew you lived in North Carolina and that you came from MR.com... somewhat invasive tracking methods for customer support to track your IP...
likely not that smart.
my guess is that they had caller id for the NC info and guessed the Macrumors because they have been googling themselves.
Also on the domain creation, I think they had a site before that with the same domain. and the emeryville CA I believe is the location for godaddy. so my guess is that they switched the domain to a service that would inherently mask the actual address which is probably Mama's Basement, Loserville.
