LOL, re read the post, anyone that takes comments on the internet seriously is insane.

Let me see, make my decisions based on a reviewer I trust or a random 14 year old with an Android phone their parents bought for them and an axe to grind against Apple products.

I think one of the most telling things I hear consistently is Robert Scoble's depiction of traveling, he commentes that when he's in First Class, he sees ~95% Apple products, when he give talks to professionals in the industry, he asks them to hold up their hands for Apple VS Android, etc, and it's overwhelmingly Apple.

There's a reason for that, Apple builds a better mousetrap.

He specifically listed engadget as calling it a netbook, I can't find netbooks mentioned in the written or the video review.

Trolling.

I'm not saying it's the best or anything, and I readily admit it should be a second computer, and it has significant trade offs, just that the OP is misrepresenting the reviews to fit his own perception/agenda, there are a few more harsh ways to phrase the accuracy of what he posted, lets go with the less inflammatory version :)

No. I didn't. I said the comment sections and I listed sites with comment sections. Re read my post. And do I really have to provide examples to back up something that's been said quite often by *******s?

Better? I find most often people who are too sensitive about certain topics call those people saying things they don't like "trolls". Or they're trolls themselves. So odd to be called one for just saying "I keep reading people say stuff like this. How well do you think it's selling"? Seems like a pretty innocuous comment. Especially considering I have one. So what would I be trolling about? I also have a Ford Taurus and asked a similar question about how well it's selling and if there will be a new one coming to America this year. Is that troll material too?

I also remember a few you tubers who got it calling it an "iPad with a keyboard". Like Charles trippy.

But anyway, I'm guessing it's selling moderately well but that this will most likely be a repeat of the MacBook Air in that it's sexy with a few drawbacks people are having a hard time getting used to. One processors get better, they add another USB c port, extend the battery life and that wireless devices are more ubiquitous, it should be taken more seriously as a legit MacBook

Ghost31, comments on articles/reviews are notoriously trollish, re/code killed comments, and the verge is considering killing them as well.

Reviews of Apple products in particular generate a ton of negative comments, because it seems the world is divided between pro and anti Apple people. I tend to not read the comments because of what I posted later in the thread, about who's commenting. With 80% of smartphones being Android, that's a pretty massive built in bias.

I'd guess the MB is selling pretty well because it's just recently started to be carried in stock in the stores now. I also think Apple is in it for the long game, not for short term numbers. It's definitely a first gen product, and future iterations will of course address some of the criticisms.

The MB is definitely not a netbook, they were terrible.

Sorry I called you a troll, my bad, but seriously, take those comments with a grain of salt, if it works for you and meets your needs, just use the heck out of it.

The OP wasn't comparing it to a netbook, it's everyone else who's made this about the OP comparing it to a netbook.

The OP was just inquiring about how it's selling despite a LOT of blowback on the new MB. To acknowledge the criticisms is largely what makes the question about sales interesting. For people here to all of a sudden act like these netbook/iPad comparisons have never been mentioned is absurd (i.e. "shocking"). This forum is rampant with them.

The thread the OP started just a couple weeks back, here's reply #6:
Okie. I can't argue personal preference, I was merely stating as a primary computer, most students opt for the rMBP over the rMB because of it's capabilities are more than just an iPad with a keyboard and OS X.

How is your job security at Samsung "Ghost31"? Desperate measures for desperate times
To you and all the others that have jumped on the OP, did you bother to even glance at his post history before making such accusations? He seems to like Apple products and the new MacBook. Do you know something about him we don't? Save the troll hunting for people who are actually acting like trolls.

Very true. I am real estate investment and development. Out of the many associates, attorneys, accountants, engineers, etc...90% of them have Apple products. I travel twice a year for business and each time I see Apple laptops, tablets and phones overwhelmingly more than Android. Walk into any coffee shop and you'll see it. Walk into any airport and you'll see it.

Thanks for standing up for me. I was really confused after the responses started coming in like "did I say something wrong? These people are acting like I'm on a personal crusade against apple or something!" While I get notifications of posts from my apple watch....to handoff to my iPad....then reply on my MacBook lol it didn't help that I had one of the worst days at work where I felt like I couldn't do anything right and come back to reading people call me a troll for asking a question. I know I shouldn't care but when you're having a crappy day, it's easy to let things get to you.

But thanks again for saying something. I'll remember you

And you already have your pitch forks out anyway. Why waste them?

It's all good.

Personally I got it, you were not being derogatory towards the rMB, rather expressing the feelings of others. Why people jump on these things is beyond me, if you don't care for the product pass it by, if you do like it, try to contribute to the community in positive manner.

If someone misjudges the Retina MacBook for their needs so be it, equally this does not make the new MacBook a poor product for all. For me the Retina MacBook is exceeding my expectations and has already paid for itself multiple times over...

I stuck up for you! (sort of) I said you weren't trolling!

I actually think you should avoid things like YouTube comments as if they were the plague is all I was suggesting, as well as providing what I believe the rMB to be classified as, and that it's better to think for yourself. If you're happy with a purchase it shouldn't matter what anyone else is calling it, especially if what they are calling it makes no absolute sense whatsoever - such as "overpriced netbook" or "iPad with a keyboard" as those are completely different leagues of computing.

I use it as my main computer replacing a retina MacBook Pro. Do general business work as well as programming (and Parallels) and it does it all. I don't use the rMBP at all and am thinking I should sell that.

Rails, PHP, Node, Mongo - all working well. Not too much Xcode but some Android app development using the Android Studio. All fine.

The only thing I HATE on the rMB is the new keyboard. Typo city.
