my 3 week old 3GS is scratched on the back. usual parts. apple logo. and other parts. going to get it swapped for one with a real battery though. i think they accidentally put a watch battery in mine or something.

Yes, you're the first person other than myself who has referred to this, although I put it on two different related threads. My wife and I both have 3 week old 3Gs phones, and both are scratched on the back, especially the Apple logo, despite being handled, cased and cleaned carefully. I can't determine if this is happening too only a few people or if most people just think it too trivial a complaint to care about 😕

The Apple logo and the bezel is just like the back of the the iPods which are easily scratched. They can be scratched even lying on a smooth surface table. Don't sweat about it.

3G IPHONES ARE LIKE THAT TOO(woops caps lock there sorry) one of my least favorite things about the switch to plastic.

I have owned iPhones since they were first released and I have never used cases or screen protectors. My 2G and 3G never had one single scratch on the screens. I have had my 3GS for less than a month and it already has two noticeable scratches on the screen and it makes me angry that I spent $500 on this thing and it is already damaged.

why do you think they make screen protectors?

You would think that Apple would issue a new screen protector with each new 3GS iPhone if they felt it was going to be an addressable issue.....😱😱😱
