I was in Hong Kong about a week after launch and they had walk-in stock available but only the 6s 16GB versions in SG, Silver and Gold. Plenty of scalpers on the street in front of the Apple Store trying to sell phones though...

I was able to get a 6s Plus on the Saturday after release (one day after) by walking into Best Buy and asking.
They had what seemed to be plenty of stock.
I thought this wasn't going to go too well for Apple.
I wanted to trade mine in within the 14 days for a bigger size (got 64, wanted 128) so I have been checking stock.
It seems the supply has dried up. It is showing basically no phones in my area, including the Apple Store.
Best Buy has a cage that was full of phones when I bought (probably reserved for pre orders) but that cage is bare bones now.

So far no luck here in SF. Been looking for a silver iPhone 6s Plus in either 64 or 128 go. By the way things are looking, I might very well just wait for the 7.

Plenty of 6S models available in the UK, but no 6S+ in any colour or storage capacity.

The Apple stores, carrier stores, and places like Best Buy here in NC have a ton of 6S models in stock, but the 6S Plus continues to be very scarce. We got our 6S Plus phones a couple of weeks ago by refreshing istocknow.com many times throughout the day and happened to see the models we wanted just as the site was being updated.

Interesting. Phoenix really isn't an international tourist city (I guess?) but we do have a huge population of out of towners showing up about this time of year for our warm winter weather.

I mainly wanted to buy it from Verizon (as opposed to Apple Store) so I can put it under contract and make payments on my Verizon bill rather than the Apple program.

Yep, damn snowbirds make everything more difficult! (I'm in Phoenix too.)

You should be able to do the Verizon upgrade thing you want to do at the Apple Store...don't think there's any need to go to a carrier store.

I think it's a hit or miss and depends on the area you live. Sunday, I was able to walk in and buy a sim-free 128 GB SG 6S Plus without reservation and I took the last one.

Your signature cracks me up with the mentions of force touch and sim-free.

Haven't seen a recent thread on walk-ins so thought I'd ask if people were having luck now getting a 6s Plus. I'm in Phoenix and it's pretty dry here. Trying my local Verizon and Best Buy stores with no luck so far.

Thanks!

Check out TARGET.

I'm in Phoenix too, and checked out Target and they had it. I walked in and got an iPhone 6s Plus 64GB on Verizon (silver). I checked their locator, and a few stores had it (this one was in Ahwatukee which was good because I was going there anyways that day). Called up the mobile center, and they held it for me.

Also ended up with a 200 dollar Target card just for using them to activate my line (I was porting from TMO into my existing Verizon account my wife's number was on), and another 90 for my old HTC. Plus 100 for porting to Verizon that'll show up on my Verizon bill at some point. Almost 400 bucks isn't bad.

Oh, and they do the Verizon monthly option... I did that, too.

I checked Best Buy, too, and one tried to tell me they ONLY do new accounts and can't activate on an existing account so I said F that store.

Good to know. Can you tell me where I can find their online tracker? I'm actually in Ahwatukee. Did you go to the Ray road store?

Another Arizonan here... the snowbirds do make life difficult in many ways... but since the majority of them are older, retired folks, I doubt that they impact the iPhone buying process in any major way.

Ok, here's my update:

After searching for a 6S Plus at Verizon, Best Buy and Apple (multiple stores) and being told "These are still very tough to come by", I took the suggestion of Digitard (see above) and went to my nearby Target. I had zero problem as far as stock went. The guy informed me that he had every color of 64GB in stock (I went with the gold). He also commented on how everyone forgets about Target and that he's had relatively few people come to him looking for the 6S Plus.

I had some red tape issues that had to do with Verizon's system unable to process my upgrade (I wanted to use my wife's upgrade and they couldn't transfer it). Ended up simply "upgrading" her phone, got home, swapped Sim cards and I'm in business!

The only downside is that Target does not seem to stock the 128GB phone.

Thanks again for the comments and suggestions!

Glad they got you taken care of. I had a great experience there, too. I'm sure the transfer was just Verizon's system, but that's how I always handled it, too. I'd upgrade my wifes in the past, and then just do an MEID switch online, swap cards and be done with it.

I, thankfully, wanted the 64GB model since I keep most of my major stuff (music, etc) in GOOGLE PLAY which you can stream anytime. So I didn't have to look for the 128GB.

They're probably going to be my new "GO TO" destination for upgrades because I had a great experience with the, and now i'm off cycle in terms of pre-order (unless i drop an extra payment to pay off 1/2 early for the next model).

Yup. I did it almost two weeks ago. Verizon and Apple Stores were dry, so I just happened to call up the nearby Target. They had the phones for Verizon in every color and size.

Got there 10 minutes later. Got out with a 128 gold, 20 minutes after that. Went back the next day and got a 128 Space Gray for someone else. They still had phones left, as I was leaving.

Yeah,

I was surprised at the whole thing. Especially all the promotional offers. Since my wife LOVES Target getting nearly 300 bucks in cards walking out was super nice.

I was able to reserve an ATT 64 GB RG 6+ a couple weeks ago on Apple's site. Went in an hour later and picked it up.
I like in Orlando btw, very touristy area

Yeah, and they held mine too, when I called ahead. It was a breeze.
