Why does it still say coming soon and not saying available april 10th. Any why wouldn't they just take orders now..

I check several times a day, thinking that they may change it to 'purchase'. I'll be ordering as soon as they open it up.

This is the first time in recent history Apple has done an announcement without giving immediate online access\next-day store availability to a laptop release, so I'm not sure how it'll work. Wondering if anyone has heard anything from stores regarding how the launch will go.

To be honest, i also can't remember that there was in the past such an unclear announcement when preorder starts

That's a very fair criticism, but there's nothing we can do about it. It's odd that there are dates all over the Watch pages and very little about the rMB, but Apple's going to do what it's going to do. If anyone gets really frosted, they could start a boycott thread? ;)

I'm not fixated by the preorder issue. I expect that there will plenty of these to go around when they launch it on April 10th, and I'd like to put my hands on one, at least briefly, at an Apple Store or Best Buy before I actually walk out the door with one.

It just means I won't potentially get it until April 17th or so, since I'm going for the 1.3GHz processor. A pre-order would have meant those of us doing that would get it before then.

It doesn't make any sense to me that Apple hasn't done any preorders for these computers. How will they know how many of each type to make? It seems to me that it would have been helpful, from a production standpoint, to open up for preorders so they would have a better idea what to build.

(Or maybe us early birds aren't a good indication of what the average customer wants)

I'd be curious to see the stats, and how many computers they sell on pre-orders, compared to how many they sell in store and online after launch date.

I'm not sure that many people buy a computer online, even in this day and age. This machine will draw curiosity, but actual buying without even seeing it ? To me, it looks like something a lot of people will buy on impulse when seeing them in store.

Its not an iOS device! Im pretty sure Apple does not do pre-orders on their computers.

Yes, definitely. There's a good chance you could pick one up on the 10th at a local Apple Store, if that's convenient (?). I'm not saying it's as convenient, but it may be an option.

More specifically, I wonder how many online Mac orders are not either (1) CTO or (2) refurbished. I bet it's pretty low, but that's a WAG.
