Yeah, I suppose you are right, it was just the way the whole Q&A thing worked it may have been interpreted that ALL data was unlimited and free.

I suppose it makes the iPhone tariff sound a bit better, so you get unlimited EDGA and free Cloud WiFi included in the monthly line rental. Not too bad I suppose.

Fuller?

I'm sorry but I really don't believe that is a genuine response from Mr. Key. For a start the term 'fuller' is not in the English language and no head of a British company uses the term 'CEO" they are Chief Executive's.

Confirmation from Mark Stevenson of O2 Marketing Dept that existing O2 Customers will be able to transfer to an iPhone contract without paying a penalty.

Great news!

I do hope this is true, when i went into my local O2 store (brighton, western road) to ask the next day (19th sept), the manager told me that O2 was doing a special upgrade fee which would break any contract for £200. I want a iPhone but not for a total of £469 :(

There will be no upgrade fee as long as you were with o2 prior to the U.K. iPhone announcement (18.09.07).

You will, of course, have to stump up the £269 for the iPhone itself.

This is from the horse's mouth, not mine.

Great, is your information based on "Pointer"'s posts/emails... or has this been confirmed from another source? Just want to clarify the info.... sweet just over a month to go :)

aye it does seem to be genuine, i emailed them to ask them about it and of course got this default response.

"Hi,

Have emailed back and said i want a proper reply, if i get one i will post...

Sounds reasonable, remember that the important thing to them is locking you in to a new 18 month contract. Its not like you're asking to break your existing one and leave, so I have no doubts that you'll be able to switch to an iPhone contract without penalties.

I called a o2 yesterday and the person i talked to a person he tought the iphone was only going to be avalible as a free upgrade.

GRR.

This is real - I know. NO penalty if you had a contract before the 18th September. £219 if you had one afterwards.

Trust me, this is completely legit.

MMS has also been discussed. It's not an 'if', it's a 'when'. O2 are very keen to get this functionality into the phone.

Also, tariffs are not yet set in stone.

Do you know when o2 will announce these things?

Just got a new reply from O2 customer services, seems they are playing dumb to it all as i did not mention to anyone when i would be out of contract instore.

The previous reply that we sent to you was system generated so please ignore it and I'm sorry for any inconvenience that may have been caused.

They are astoundingly hopeless!

I found this at apple.com/uk/iphone:

If you’re an existing O2 wireless customer on a qualifying tariff, you will have the option of keeping your existing phone number and upgrading your account to work with iPhone. iPhone plans include Visual Voicemail, SMS text messaging bundles and unlimited mobile data usage, which includes both email and web.

What is the "Qualifying Tariff"?

with 39 days left to go... I thinks its worth waiting for now on O2 info?

I think a few things may change, hopfully the price plans for the better as there a bit out of line with other tarrifs/networks (monopoly on the iphone though so pretty much a do what you want card if O2 wanted to) and the mixed messages on the upgrade path is a bit shaky, I'm not saying I dont belive posters with great info as it all makes sense, but come Nov 8th will we all be emptying cash points ready (no debit/credit cards instore apparently) regardless of cost?

I think you got that mixed up, it's no cash accepted on the 9th. They probably don't want to advertise that all O2 and carphone warehouse stores will bulging with cash! They might as well stick a sign up outside saying rob me!:p

LOL yup your right, my bad, knew it was one or the other, hehe rob me, plus thinking about it id say 70% of banks limit you to taking £250 a day out of cash machines, i wonder if they note down the iphone serial number to your card when you pay as a way of tracking? hmm questions...

At Last!!!

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but 02 have laid my mind at rest about getting an iphone when still mid-contract with them.
This is now up on their site under "availability" Sshweeeeeeet!
