I bought an 8 having had a 6 for 2.5 years

For me its a great upgrade. I like the form and size as it’s perfect for my needs. It’s lightning fast compared to my old 6

Fully charged it Friday night and still have over 30% left after using the phone for more than 5 hours.

Very pleased so far :)

Ended up pulling a trigger on an 8+ from a regular 7. Love love the screen and the camera, but man this thing is a pain in the butt to use. Woke up with tight arms this AM. I have an Apple leather case on it, which is a little slippery also. May return and wait for the X, or get a regular 8. Not sure yet, I’ll give it the 14 days and see if I get used to it.

Had all of the various pluses since they came out, but decided to do the 8 and have to say I’m loving it! Battery life is definitely something that is different but at the same time not too bad!
Camera is fantastic on the 8 and definitely enjoying it more then my 7+!

I went from a 6S+ to an 8. It’s so much easier to hold - no regrets switching to a smaller size.

I went from a 6 Plus 128gb to a 64gb 8. I was getting a little tired of the large size. I think the smaller size will do just fine for me.

I went from a 7 plus to an 8. So far I’m loving the practicality of being able to easily carry my device around and use it with one hand. I do miss the screen of my plus but I’m thinking portability is more important to me than having a larger screen.

My hands are huge, but the iPhone 8+ (and the entire 'plus' line of phones) is an abomination. I understand why Apple sells them, but I will never buy one. I bought an unlocked 8 on launch day.

I switched from an SE and a 6 (mostly the SE) to an 8. The 8+ is way too big for my tastes. I need something that I can easily carry around in my front pocket all day. TBH, I think the non-plus 6/7/8 are already a little too big. My ideal phone would have been an X with a 4.7" screen.

Regarding the camera, IMO it's more than good enough for taking casual pictures and videos. I'm not interested in artificial bokeh. For more serious photography I have a DSLR. No phone comes anywhere near yet.

The Plus is big but to me the camera and battery make it worth it to me. I take a lot of pics.

I bought the 8. I carry my phone with me all the time and prefer the portability of the 8. For me it's a much easier size to manage and has most of the bells and whistles of the larger phones. I admit I considered the X and would love that oled screen, but realize it just isn't the right phone for me.

The regular iPhone 8 camera has OIS now? If so, that’s awesome.
The non-plus iPhone has had OIS since iPhone 7.
Note that the portrait camera on the 8 Plus still doesn't have OIS like 7 Plus. Apple makes sure you have to get the X to get OIS on both cameras.

Cool. I thought OIS was exclusive to the Plus on the 7 too. Good to know my 8 has OIS

Those of you that have the 8; would say it’s a good upgrade from a 6s?

I really can’t decide what do to
Just set up my 8 this morning, retiring a 128 GB 6s. It's a great upgrade. You'll notice the haptic/force touch home button a lot, the speed is obvious, wireless charging working fine on a Nokia charger. It'll be dark in two hours so I'll test the OIS then. I got the 64GB, downloaded all my apps I need and three movies and have 45 GB left. I was spoiled with the 128gb 6S, sometimes downloading entire seasons of Amazon shows to carry around. "just in case". I used the TMO $300 credit.

So far, feels like an upgrade, don't regret anything.

I don't know why this is so hard for people to decide. The 8 is the best choice for people who don't want Face ID and don't need 6% more screen shoved around a camera notch at the top. From there, most people already know if they're a Plus user or not.

If you wanted an X, you knew it right from the jump.

I was going to skip the 8 and instead wait for the X, but there were so many 8’s available at the local Apple store that I reserved one online for pickup on Saturday, went in 45 minutes later, and was out in 10 minutes with my new iPhone 8.

Coming from a 7 running iOS 11, it’s a nice year-over-year upgrade. General app performance is slightly improved, with motion just a little more fluid to my eyes. I can appreciate the true tone display, especially after buying a 10.5 iPad Pro — not using it makes the colors look too cool to my eyes. The glass back feels much nicer in the hand, making for a better grip. The inductive charging is a nice feature, I can leave my iPhone 8 on the charging pad while I’m laying in bed and it’s much easier to deal with lifting it off and putting it back to briefly use it without having to futz with a lightning cable. The camera performs a little better in dim lighting, but I only take cat pictures (like most of the internet).

I’d love the bigger screen on the plus, but it’s too difficult to use one handed and seems unwieldy for me. I prefer the 4.7 size.

I may or may not order the X when it comes out, depending on availability and how pre-orders go. Even if I don’t get it, I’m very happy with the upgrade to the 8.

In the plus model you're getting the dual camera with OIS and portrait mode, more RAM, more screen estate, and all day battery. I can see why it may be a bit big for some people, especially with small hands, but you're getting so much more phone for what is, in perspective, a quite small price increase.

Yes the 8+ opened my eyes in regards to how much more you get for just £100 more. Although I rocked the 6S since it’s release and enjoy an easy one hand experience, I wouldn’t be able to go back from an 8+.

I also find it bewildering the amount of extra tech you got for £100 going 8>8+, but it’s £150 to just go 64gb>256gb.

I think that's a big part of it. Face ID is new territory for Apple and the consumer, where if somebody prefers touch ID, they likely will retain their current iPhone or invest into the iPhone 8. Internally, the specifications for the iPhone 8 and iPhone X are almost identical.
