If you're looking at low usage deals then Xfinity Mobile should be considered. If the words "throttling", "tethering", "unlimited" and "HD steaming" are important to you...probably not.
Yeah, I get that it's intended for light users, that's why they promote the by the gig deal.

I frequently use between 4-8GB per month on T-Mobile and with three lines, that's $33 per line that I have. Not sure how xfinity could really benefit me.

When I tried Verizon around 2012 or so, I could not make a call at my house let alone, use data because I got such a poor signal at my house and I've been with T-Mobile ever since.

I may just see about opening one line on xfinity for a month just to see how things are these days with Verizon. I tried their service again on my iPad by just getting a day pass and the service was still non existent at my house. That was about two years ago.

That's a good point. I can imagine a LOT of people who will save a ton of money and use a gig or two of data, and either mostly use Wi-Fi or don't use their phones much.

So, with two college kids constantly streaming Apple Music on the 2.5 hour rural drive between the university and home, and my need to tether sometimes for my work laptop, this doesn't sound like the right plan for me.

I use Xfinity Mobile and it's fine for my use case. I did try T-mobile but they still somewhat useless in the rural areas I travel to and from because of work. T-mobile's coverage for Metro areas and big cities has improved but a good chunk of rural and off the beaten path has seen anything at all. Some areas where they have improved is because of acquisitions of other carriers that already had towers in these locations.

As far as I'm concerned Xfinity Mobile using Verizon has me covered all the places on and off the beaten path. As far as the throttling, tethering, and HD usage caps all carriers have it in some form and it is not a deciding factor. Coverage is my deciding factor, price, and features. Price and features though goes down a bit though if you can't use your phone for lack of coverage.

As with anything try before you buy and then make an informed decision based off your own use and observation.

Made the switch to Xfinity Mobile from Verizon yesterday. Two of three lines ported over without issue. 23 hours later still waiting for the third line to port. Conspiracy theory has it that Verizon has some type of hold on the 3rd line so a new bill cycle starts (yesterday was last day of bill cycle). All parties claim no errors on their end and Verizon tells me they released all lines yesterday at 11:34. No reason why this situation has to happen.

On a side note the two phones that are working are doing great. I speed tested LTE connection at home and it seemed a lot faster than Verizon. I can't explain that one. Maybe the cell booster from Weboost works better with Xfinity Mobile than it does with Verizon. Scratching my head on this one...lol

Okay we finally had our third line activated. Was stuck for some reason and took a little over 4 days to get activated with help from tier 3 support at xfinity. Other than than that I am completely satisfied with the switch. Customer service even gave me a $20 credit on next months bill for my troubles. If I had to guess I would say we will save over $80 a month by switching from Verizon.

i just switch from verizon too XFINITY MOBILE my self from verizon prepaid and i find cell service seems too be much better with XFINITY MOBILE then with verizon it self i have a iphone 8 pluse

i all so ported my number over with out issue

Very interesting thread.

The big (sales) proposition for Xfinity for those that already have Xfinity broadband is "free talk & text- just pay for broadband" (at $12 per GB). So my question to those of you using it already: if you opt to only use data when in wifi zones (in other words, you are playing cellular miser and trying to use a cell phone only as a cell phone + texting device), do you get free service? Or is there a $12 minimum (for 1GB) bill baked in there even if you strive to use data only in wifi zones?
[doublepost=1534464160][/doublepost]You get 100 mb of free data. If you use less than that, you only pay the taxes and fees. Where I live it is about 4 dollars per line. However if you use 101 mb, you are charged 12 dollars for 1 GB.

A lot can change in 6 years. Verizon just rolled LTE out in mid/late 2011, and they've expanded coverage and capacity a lot since then.

Love Xfinity mobile! I pay $41 for the iPhone X, insurance, one gig a month and my bill with tax is $65. I don’t use too much data, because where I live there are plenty of hotspots and I download my music on Wi-Fi before I get in the car.

Phone service is excellent, never have a problem with Verizon in my area.

I tried a day pass on my iPad with Verizon and it hasn't changed. I still can't get service at my house. The only reason I am able to use AT&T is because of WiFI calling. That helps with both calls and text messages. I am fine with what I have now.
