I can’t leave the house without my Apple Watch, and the one time I accidentally forgot it at home, I was so out of place. I had to use my phone more than often at work, and delivering mail with a phone in your hand along with mail is hard. My Apple Watch is so beneficial to me for work. It also was the indicator that let me know I was pregnant 4.5 years ago. My heart rate always increases every time I get pregnant and that’s what alerted me to look into it.

On battery. I wear mine as a sleep always. Not a problem for me. Prior to a cup of coffee and a shower I put my S6 on the charger. For me that's been more than enough for 24 hours of use.

I charge mine as soon as I get home from work before bed, and it’s back to 100% in time for sleep tracking. I charge it once again in the morning before work and I’m back at 100%. The charging is the least thing I worry about.

Yea I've done that too. The watch has become very iPhone like in its need to be on me when I leave home :).

My story...

I expected to hate it. I really did. I was the CEO of a computer company, and clients were always asking our opinion of what new tech they should be looking at. 'Is the Apple Watch 'that good''? 'Would you buy an Apple Watch?' 'Is it worth considering?' On and on, the questions. 'Will it work on our network?' Etc, etc...

I bought a version '0', and really expected to return it. I kept the box pristine. I hooked it up, and loaded every 'complication' and applet I could. I poked it, I prodded it, I tried all kinds of things with it. And the more I did with the little guy, the more I actually began to respect it. It wasn't a half baked mess like the Pebble, IMO.

It worked. I was surprised. I began to really like it. It was functional. I have a V4 currently, and do like all of the things it does, and allows me to do. And it all works. Promising the moon is one thing. Delivering it, is, well, AWESOME!

But will it appeal to everyone? Obviously not. But do I regret investigating it, and buying that first one? No. I was curious, and it worked. I saw the promise of it, and it seems to be holding true to it. I depend on the watch to help me plan and execute my day. Has it been flawless, no, but the issues have been small, and easily solved.

But, yeah, it's not for everyone. Some people will hate it just because it's from Apple, and I can't help that. *shrug*

I think sleep monitoring is the most useful feature of a smart watch or a health tracker.

I have a Garwin 45 and looked for a smart watch for my wife. Checked the Apple Watch SE and at the end went for Fitbit Versa3 owing to the known battery issue of Apple Watch.

some of the posters here suggested battery was not an issue provided that it was possible to charge the watch over night, however, it would make sleep monitoring not possible.

to put aside the battery issue, I like every bits of an Apple Watch SE in particular it is born to have best integration with iPhone. Whereas, Fitbit works like a charm but I am surprised Apple Health does not sync with the Fitbit App.
I have my Apple Watch with me every night. I just charge it for about an hour before I go to sleep and I can still use the watch the next day.

are you saying you used to reply mails on Watch?

from what you have said it seems the watch has to be LTE capable so that one could use it without the iPhone.

I had someone give me their sloppy seconds one to try because they were convinced it was the best thing since sliced bread.

I tried really hard to like it for a whole day but couldn’t come up with a single compelling thing it did that was genuinely useful. I gave it back the next day and went back to wearing my omega.

The whole thing felt like an expensive ( and ugly… ) gimmick to me, but different strokes I guess.

I use the watch for notifications and to keep track of my health. I do reply to messages if it’s less than 5 words. I use my iPhone for everything else. I have the LTE version so I can use it without having my phone with me.

I’d maybe wait until they announce the next watch this fall. Not sure what new features they’re considering, but we’re getting close and you’ve already gone this long without one.

I just don’t want you to have buyers remorse and wishing you would’ve waited.
yes, I'm not in a rush, I will wait for the next one, I read it should have better battery and new design.

I don't know why but I've recently been looking at the watches. Maybe it's because of the health features..
But what puts me off is the battery, with a normal watch you don't worry about that but with an Apple Watch it's like a phone, charging all the time, is it really worth to have it?
Also you'll be wearing the same watch all the time.. with a normal one you can change..
I don't regret trying the AW, but it wasn't for me. As others have said, charging really isn't that big of an issue. What I liked most about it was how it could wake me up in the morning with some silent taps on the wrist. I discovered my biggest dislike was being "connected" all the time, even though initially this was the main selling point for me.

The final nail in the coffin was that I became interested in mechanical watches and developed a nice collection of those. While the AW could have been just another watch in the collection to rotate through, my feeling was if I was going to have an AW I should be wearing it everyday to maximize its capabilities...and I wasn't willing to do that.

You've possibly got two ankles, too.

My wife and I love ours. I am looking to upgrade potentially with this year's new model.

Good point. And funny you should say that.

I referee high school basketball and wearing a watch while working games is frowned upon. But I can’t bear to lose those steps during games, so I got a band that will fit my ankle and wear it under my sock.

Was unconvinced by AW until I started to take an interest in the health tracking & integrations with other things I use, so bought a heavily discounted S3 to try out ahead of S6 launch. I also wanted ECG & blood oxygen, plus directions for city navigation on foot, so now have an AW6 on my right arm and my 'old' Tudor wristwatch on my left.

The single-piece stretchy black strap made all the difference for convenience & unobtrusiveness, esp. with the smaller of the two watch sizes also in black. I rarely interact with it (aside from hearing notifications & going to iPhone / MacBook) other than setting Siri timers whilst cooking ...

I only have Calendar and Messages notifications turned on - and no always-on display - so AW6 runs for 48-hours without charge for me, but I usually charge it on nightstand overnight next to my iPhone whilst I sleep as I have a Withings 'sleep mat' under my mattress which monitors sleep and heart rate / breathing etc.

I love my Apple Watch 4. I charge it for about an hour before bed and then I charge it again when I get up in the morning to get ready for work. It will last all day without the morning charge but it is really annoying when it dies and you are away from a charger or a place to put it. You basically have a fancy bracelet. I have also noticed better battery life on my iPhone because I am not constantly pulling it out to check messages.

Yes you don’t need to worry about charging with a mechanical watch, but can it give you health data, notifications, at a glance weather, track various activities? There’s a compromise somewhere and charging the watch requires only for me to place it on its charging disc on the nightstand.

Got my first AW back in September. One BIG regret. I didn't get one sooner. I'm lighter and fitter than I have ever been in my like (and I am not a young gym bunny!). But not just that. Unlocking my Mac, notifications on my wrist, Apple Pay. All very useful. I got the SE. Its not that expensive and you might find you really like it.

I bought the S6 last November and it's my first Apple watch. I've worn it daily ever since and couldn't be happier with it. Between the health features, unlock FaceID and hardly needing to take my phone out of my pocket to respond or interact with notifications I don't know why I waited so long to purchase one.. I'm usually left with 40% at the end of the day which is fine with me because I don't wear it for sleep tracking so I throw it on the charger before sleep and it's ready to go when I wake up

Funny, this morning I found something I do regret buying related to the Apple Watch.

Their 'flip up' puck charger. My Watch failed to charge last night (again). I see the acknowledgement that it's charging, and will still wake up to a nearly dead device later in the day. It showed 10% power at around 9 this morning. Grr...

Someone suggested that maybe the battery is weak somehow. Maybe... It's just a pain in the butt.

I had the same thoughts regarding charging but recently decided to give the S6 a shot. No regrets, I love this watch for tracking workouts and just general usage. Got a couple of bands to switch out and a protective face plate/cover that adds a nice looking touch to it.

No regrets at all.

Before I get an Apple Watch series 2, I never wore a watch in my 20 years of life. Always thought if just checking the time, my phone already serves that purpose.

Since the day I got my S2, I never not wear a watch when I go out. Just changed me

Is the magnetic dock the older version? When the redesigned S4 was released, Apple also released a new, slightly changed magnetic dock. Consensus seems to be that the older dock works fine with the newer watches when you charge them laying flat, but in the “nightstand“ position they sometimes disconnect.

I do have two of them. Bought one for travel. I'll see if they are the same model number. Thanks. Someone earlier mentioned there being different versions of that charger, I just haven't checked them yet.

I got my AW6 back in January and had no regrets about getting it. In terms of battery it would probably comfortably last two days, with AOD switched on, but i tend to charge it overnight as i'm not fussed about sleep tracking. Find it very handy for notifications, reading stuff without having to use my phone etc and even have the free version of the Flicktype keyboard on there that lets me type quick messages out and send without evening needing my phone. Finding the health side of things very useful as well.

Bought mine 3 weeks ago solely for fitness / health. Whilst I'm still not a big fan of the square face, I haven't wore any of my mechanical watches since...filling in those activity rings becomes an obsession very quickly!
