I ordered an extra just to have a backup order in case my first one got delayed, then when it didn't figured I could make some of the cost back for mine by selling the extra. Have had it on eBay for $1399 OBO and not a single bite. Any less than 1300ish is not worth it to me considering the risk and the fees. I will most likely just cancel the store pickup for that extra one.
Probably the smart move

Well if you guys can pull $500 a pop from some rich person then I can't hate.

Call it wealth redistribution.
Ironically many of the scalpers are bing scalped themselves. All by people connected to other countries, who make far more money exporting / shipping direct to countries that aren't included in early launch, or, have limited supply. There are actually businesses (outside the US) that do this. Many of them do buy directly themselves, however there is enough markup in other countries that they can afford to pick and choose Craigslist / Ebay ads and negotiate the price down to meet their target.

An acquaintance that works in customs confiscates Samsung, iPhone devices, and many more new electronics that aren't properly declared, around every new release. Curious to hear how many iPhone Xs are thrown in the cage this and next week alone, and this is just at a Canadian land crossing.

Must suck for resellers that there seems to be plenty of supply and not much profit to be made.

Shame eh...people can walk into an apple store and buy a device, that they intend to keep and enjoy, for retail. What's this world coming to....

Oregon & Washington didn't get walk in iPhones. Sold my reseller one for $2250 so Shame on me for not buying more.

There is a world outside of the United States...in case you haven't realized it yet... Some countries are not getting the stock that the U.S. is getting and that is where the profits will be made.
I’m from Canada eh

Lol who paid you $2250 for an iPhone? That’s outrageous.

How does the expression go 'fools and their money departed'. Thing is though it happens every year and it happened again this year outside the Regent Street store in London, Indian sellers using students to buy an iphoneX then sending them back home for triple the price. There is a limit on how many one person can buy but once you walked out the store you could see Indian men holding at least 7-8 iphoneX's in their hands.

The shameful part is i bet less than 50% of iphoneX stock went to genuine owners, the rest going to people who had the intention of selling it on for a profit.

Actually, it is "fools and their money are soon parted" :)
My guy definitely parted with his money to soon. I heard they were available at the store just down the road from where he purchased mine. They are still available for store pickup right now also.

iPhone X's are pretty much available at every Apple Stores for in-store pickup today. Couldn't help but think about this thread when I reserved a phone for in-store pickup this morning literally one day after launch. I hope your guy got an extra $500 worth of use out of the new X in the last 24 hours :) I can't even imagine how that guy/gal feels who bought one for $2250...

People that pay reseller prices and have serious instant gratification issues are either stupidly rich and dont care about the extra $xxxx they spent or just terrible with money and still don’t care about the extra $xxxx they spent.

I’d be surprised if the fact that, for instance, they spent $500 to get it a day early would even phase them.

I can't imagine how/why someone would want a phone that badly that they are willing to pay a 50% premium for the benefit of a few weeks? Being impatient is not a good trait. I'm just as bothered as anyone about what's going on but good luck trying to squeeze an extra penny out of me to get this thing a few weeks early. And I actually need a new phone, my 6+ shouldn't even be alive right now. Like they say, a fool and his money soon part ways.

Well, in their defense, they bought the iPhone before word is out that you can pretty much pick one up at any Apple store. It's because of all the rumors of supply issues running into 2018. I'm in Louisiana and every Apple store in a 250 mile radius has most all combinations in stock today. Over the next few days as people realize you don't need to pay a premium to scalpers the aftermarket will collapse.
