hc-9 and final cut

Hope this question is ok on this thread(I'm new to this forum)I was about to purchase a sony hc-9 and checked with sony on compatability with Final cut 5.0- their answer was it wasn't and their cameras are suitable for P.C's .From what I've been reading this goes against everything you guys are saying. Can you confirm that I could buy a HDR-HC9E Sony camera and I could plug it in to G5(pp) using Final cut Studio and the camera will be recognised and i can edit easily? I live in the Uk (if that makes any difference)

my HC9 works great on my MacBook. i think Sony's issue is their software doesn't work on a Mac. fine with me. i like iMovie.

another note. get a 37mm UV filter to protect the lens. you can still use the hood if you wish.

brilliant thank you. If it works with iMovie one can only assume Final Cut is ok too. I'l get get that lens too.
Cheers
