For all you math nerds, geeks, or statisticians out there. Anyone have ideas on some mathematical method you can use to decide which phone you want to buy based on features, priorities, etc.? So far I've been very subjective in my decision making, creating lists of features and comparing them and using the Apple website. Is there some complex (or simple) mathematical way I can make these into numbers and model them to get some scoring to determine which phone I should actually buy based on numbers instead of general thinking?

Sounds like you are really over complicating this.

LOL. Exactly. I've never seen someone create more threads on MacRumors. Ever.

Awesomeness = (H X CP + B) (AT X CQ) E / $

Where H equals happiness, CP equals computing power, B equals battery life, AT equals advanced tech, CQ equals camera quality E equals envy of your peers divided by cost.

I was thinking that someone really just wants to start of bunch of threads and throws every idea out there no matter what kind of word vomit it actually is.

And most of them aren't even worth opening.

Agreed, but the same can be said for 90% or more of the threads on this site. Sorting through the junk to find the worthwhile threads is pretty painful on this forum compared to most other forums I frequent!

Overthink much?

X = 10 which is bigger than 8

Therefore X better than 8

Perhaps you should invent your own scoring system based on the differences. Like this:

Better screen: +1
Smaller screen: -1
Smaller Form Factor: +1
OIS Improvements & Face ID: +1
Higher Price: -1

Total: 1

There, that wasn't so hard. Though obviously it depends on how much you weight and put priority on the things listed above. I have another 0.5 deduction I might add to the list myself.

I'm shocked, there isn't any math or statistics involved here. Just look at the spec sheets and decide. There are so many reviews and articles out there. Please do your own homework.
