I was aware of the swipe back working in those apps. Like I said, from what I've tried swipe forward only works in Safari, and the obvious photos app (while viewing a photo).

The 'forward swipe' is a completely different thing in the Photos App. Its nothing to do with the new gesture introduced in iOS 7 because its been there since iPhone OS 1.

Does that really work for you?

It works - it's what I do too - but you need to release your finger so it's more of a gentle flick. Holding your finger down and scrolling up won't work, but a slight up-stroke with a release will.

It works when I'm scrolling down (sliding up w my thumb) and I flick down (scrolling up slightly) to scroll up slightly, not the reverse. That makes it disappear.

this doesn't help if you want to view your tabs, though.

It's worth it though. Or you can just flick the screen down and they should appear.

It is extremely useful in MULTIPLE apps, including mail. If you are in a certain message and swipe back, then after you scroll back up to the top you suddenly forget something in it that you need to reference you could swipe forward and be right back in it rather than scroll all the way down and try to find that message which many times I forget.

It's not intuitive though. Swiping back goes to the previous screen that's always there while swiping forward depends on what you clicked.

It's useful and a heck of a convenience but not intuitive.

You can live!

Now every time I want to go back I have to hit it twice. It's nice to have full screen but there are better ways to implement it, like Mercyry did - make them remain but be translucent.

If you Buy an iPad # it won't be an issue.. Cause it doesn't happen there i guess

Doh, my bad, I clearly mixed up the movement of my thumb and the motion of the page.

What part? The disappearing controls in Safari?

Yeah every time I use Safari I am reminded of how bad it is, every time you want to go back or forward there is an extra unnecessary step now, it's ridiculous and annoying. Probably one of the worst changes about iOS 7. At the LEAST they should give you the option to disable it.

Are we starting this thread all over again!! I love the swiping back and forwards to the point i get annoyed when other apps dont have it! Its now very natural to do in Safari and i know where to touch etc to bring the bars back should i need them.

Seems just fine and not even an inconvenience let alone a flaw. Haven't even noticed it in a long time, it's that natural at this point.

Sure, you asked if people noticed it more over time, so people would naturally reply what it's like to them, especially over time, right?

Yeah but you stated it as if it were objectively not inconvenient when I am reminded all day long when browsing that it is.

And me...so we're already outnumbering you in the people who dont have an issue with it compared to those that do.:)

No, you use the swipe back feature and do not even use the arrows so your opinion doesn't apply here.

I stated it in the same way you stated that it was some sort of a flaw.

Me also. I am sure there are more. I have noticed in customer service, that the ones who come forward with a problem, aren't necessarily in the majority, maybe just the most vocal. The ones who are satisfied never come forward, because they don't have a problem. There are millions of iOS users who don't complain about this. Does it make it any less of a problem? No. Does it mean that Apple should radically redesign Safari for the very vocal? No.

For the problem with tabs still requiring two taps to access, they should just add the iPad gesture to pinch out to zoom out to the tab view in iOS 8. Problem solved.
