Are you asking me or telling me?

My point is, this doesn't help OP if he is on iOS7 and cannot Jailbreak. Someday, when Jailbreak does happen for iOS7, then he will be able to take advantage of it.

For now, it's just discussion. Thanks for pointing the ability to run a mouse on iDevice. I didn't know that existed.

Well, it is a discussion forum... :)

This is actually...amazing. I would never do it myself, but the fact that the jailbreak community figured out how to do it is pretty cool.

BTC Mouse & Trackpad isn't some half-baked tweak, as Ringwald has covered most of the bases. Your mouse will wake your iOS device on movement; you can even "slide to unlock" with the mouse. The scroll wheel can be used for pinch-to-zoom and navigating the home screen (springboard). There's even a presentation mode – a handy feature for those using their Apple devices for keynotes.

I think the OP means that the iPad would be just used as a screen, standing upright on a tabletop while he uses a keyboard & mouse. Ive also wondered about this. It would get us closer to replacing the laptop completely. Or, almost completely.
Bingo. This is exactly what I'd like to do.

Frankly I'm not sure why some folks here find this to be such a far-fetched idea.

Hi all,

There are times that I would love to be able to use a mouse with the iPad. Just wondering if anyone has figured out a way to do it yet.

Thanks.

PS -- Yeah, I know that the iPad wasn't designed to be used with a mouse, but I'd still like the option if at all possible.

No. Never. Don't hold your breath.

Anyway, how about attaching two or three mice to the iPad for multitouch gestures? :D

Wish I had a mouse too...

Q: Why a mouse or trackpad?
A: Remote Desktop apps.

My first ipad 3 was primarily used as a super high res Remote Desktop for all the servers I ran. Worked pretty well, but would gave been perfect if the Bluetooth keyboard case had a working trackpad as well. At the time, no other device had as much screen resolution as my ipad3. I usually ran 5 or 6 ssh shells on a Remote Desktop, very handy out on the golf course when I got paged to fix something.

iPads can be so much more than browsing and email.

Just because you don't need a mouse doesn't make the idea dumb.

The best part about this thread is that even though links have been posted on how to do it people are still saying it can not be done. :)

Paid the $5 and now iPad w/ mouse...

It's actually pretty neat/easy. Add a keyboard and reclaim screen real estate and be more productive!

Useful to connect to an external monitor and work via Bluetooth.
Yes I am iOS 6.12JB.

Mouse works well and is very useful on my iPad - YMMV

I have a jailbroken Mini running BT Mouse and it works great. I also have a Zagg BT Keyboard case so it acts like a really little laptop.

The mouse has full functionality, scroll wheel works as expected in browsers and any other scrollable list you hover over. The right mouse button brings you back to the homescreen so with just your mouse you can open apps, scroll around, reading, changing apps, etc.

The place it's most useful is when I remote into Windows servers (for work) or my Windows based home media-PC. It really does work well and for that reason I'll not be upgrading to iOS 7 until/if there's a JB and BT Mouse compatability.
