It's not meant to be a fashion accessory, it's a watch designed for those who are engaged in extreme sports or even not quite so extreme but still done under at times difficult weather or other conditions. So, yes, since some women do participate in extreme sports, are elite athletes, get into situations far beyond what many would even consider attempting, of course they will want and purchase the Ultra.

It's not meant to be a fashion accessory and IMHO those who prance around proudly wearing one, men and women who are not in the least seriously athletic at all, whose lifestyles are just like that of most regular folks, will just look....silly.

I’m athletic, but just the double battery life alone makes the Ultra a compelling buy for non-athletes, I’d imagine.

Also keep in mind that the "49mm" refers to the case size...not the screen size. I don't think many people realize the screen actually isn't much bigger.

The 45mm is 396x484 pixels, and the 49mm is 410x502 pixels...so only 14x18 pixels larger. (For comparison, the 45mm is 44x54 pixels larger than the 41mm.)

I’m getting one even though I wear size one in the braided loop! I ski, snorkel, swim, bike etc battery alone is compelling and I actively dislike my garmin Fenix 6. But yes it looks huge! I will see if I like it when it arrives but I bet it’s the size of my tag heuer dive watch and given its functionality I hope it will be a keeper!

I ordered one... I'm currently using a 45mm so I'm hoping it doesn't look too ridiculous on my arm. I ordered the white scuba band, hoping it would blend in with the titanium a bit better (I've always gotten darker metal watches).

I’m struggling enough with the decision to go to a 45mm. The 49 would probably stick off my arm.
I have a 45mm, I like bigger watches though. Unless your wrists are super tiny, I think it would look fine.

No, but I’m also not an outdoorsy gal that would use any of that extra functionality. Super cool watch though!

It looks okay, but I don’t love the way bands look/lay with it. Of course if I found the right band, it might be fine, but the stiffer bands definitely don’t look great.

I’ve wanted to either go to a 45mm or go with a SS for almost a year, and I actually ordered both earlier then cancelled because I just canNOT make up my mind, or even decide if it’s worth doing.

I REALLY would love to go back to silver even if I don’t do stainless, because the starlight is just off enough that it doesn’t look as good with some colors, but IDK if I can justify it.

It would help if I could decide about the phone as well because then I might not care if I made a frivolous watch choice. ;-p

I think I may be holding off on a phone because I love my 13 mini... but the carrier trade-in's are so enticing so... I totally understand what your saying! (I may end up with a purple Pro sooner than expected)

I did order the Ultra. I am mostly a couch potato so none of the marketing features really applies to me. I like the better battery, the screen looks better protected then my Series 7, I especially like the better daytime display when I am outside. And if I really don’t like it I can return it for a Series 8. My current watch is the 45mm and my wrist is approx. 152mm. I won’t get it until around 10/20, but we’ll see then how it does.

I have a 13 mini also, and I really like it. I’ve been committed to getting a pro due to them losing the notch, but I’m just not sure. It’s one reason I considered going bigger with the watch - if I could see/read it better, it would be even less of a reason to pull out my phone.

Exactly! That's why I went bigger with the watch... I had a Pro Max and it was just so heavy. I wear scrubs at work and the Mini doesn't weight down my pockets.

I’m contemplating the Ultra, I like a lot of the features but I also am concerned when I’m wearing the watch (not out in activity but in just general dress cloths) will the more sporty watch look out of place? The size doesn't bother me even though I’m petite, I use the 45mm watch right now and don’t feel like it’s to big or even bordering on to big so a little bigger will probably not be an issue.

My biggest concern is I’m not dressed in athletic or even casual wear at all times, there are times when I’d still want to wear my Apple Watch with a more dressy look and with the normal Apple Watch I can dress it up with different bands but not sure that would work as well with the Ultra…

I know I could buy/have two watches the Ultra for activity and the AWS8 for when I’m in more fashion/dress enviroments but I don’t really want to have two watches honestly. Any other ladies concerned about this or just me?

I read that the bands that fit the 45 will fit the Ultra so you still have that option

I am the same. I am not an athlete other than using the treadmill & hiking when I have time. I, too, would like the brighter display outside & I like the bigger screen. However, as @iStorm mentioned upthread, the actual display size is not much bigger - the size comes from the rugged case.

I ordered the Ultra first & will get it on the 23rd. I then questioned myself & ordered the Starlight 45mm as well, which will come on the 16th. I'll return one of them.

Right, I was glad to see that the bands would be interchangeable, that is great! I’m just not sure if the dressier bands would look good with the Ultra. Maybe there will be some people testing that out soon though, I may end up going to see the Ultra in person before I decide especially since I’m not in a hurry for it.

I had a similar dilemma last year...just couldn't decide between 41mm and 45mm when I tried them on in the stores. I ended up waiting until Best Buy's extended holiday return period started (usually mid to late October) and ordered both. Then I had until January to return the one I didn't want, which gave me a couple months to try them out. I really wanted to like the 45mm, but knew deep down the 41mm was right for me. Just an idea if you're like me and need more than the typical two week return period to try them out and decide.

I want to have and like a 45 also, but I’m unsure. I’ve tried it before, but not for long, and I feel like I could adjust - just don’t know if I should even try.

No doubt the Ultra is going to look big on my wrist. I'm getting it for diving. I think it will look fine for everyday wear, though. If not, I'll return it.

Are any other women ordering the Ultra? I don't mind big & clunky but it does seem to be really big.
What are the wrist measurements of everyone? I am 5’10” and my wrist is 6”. I find the 45mm hilariously oversized. I would like a Mini-Ultra at 44mm (or less). The larger display is also perfect for a senior woman I know, but her wrists are 5.5”!
