I turned it off. But i turn it back on when needed, which honestly, hasn't been very often.

Your article falls exactly in-line with the same basic reasons I’ve turned off AOD. I’m sure there are countless people that love AOD...and that’s awesome. But there is a reason Apple includes a toggle to turn it on or off...it’s an individual user preference. There is no right or wrong answer. For me, I’ll take the extended battery life...
me too, I'll take never having to think about the battery over displaying something that I'm not even looking at. I travel a lot and often have 18-24 hour travel days. I never had to think about my battery on my 3 and I'm happy to have that on my 5. I'm very happy with the updated design, screen, and tech though. The way I see it, I got the Apple Watch 4S - and I love the S-cycle from Apple ;)

Should definitely only be on when on the wrist. Mine turns off when sitting on a table.
brought it in to apple store. was able to replicate the issue on the spot.

they swop a new 1 for me, since it's less than 14 days (bought it from apple directly).

Tested the new watch on the spot. AOD was off when it is not on the wrist.

brought it back home, setup the watch from scratch (not from backup), but seems like the issue is back again.

called in to apple to feedback. seems like there are other such reported cases.
