I am very happy regarding my battery life. The 4s is a major improvement compared to a 3G, which is the device I upgraded from. I do not use iCloud, push emails or notifications, and my location service is active for a handful of apps.

Also, I keep Siri and wifi turned on, but bluetooth turned off unless I use it. I drain the battery to 5-7% before I recharge the phone. Honestly, I tried to drain the battery completely the first couple of charges, but it is very efficient and I charged it before the phone died, because I was impatient. :D

Right now my usage is as follows:

Time since last charge:
Usage: 3 hours, 0 minutes
Standby: 1 day, 20 hours

Battery usage is 35% or 65% battery juice available . Obviously, I'm not a hardcore user, but I lean on my phone when necessary!

I was having bad battery usage and standby yesterday. Literally dead by 4pm where my iphone4 would only be at 50%. Last night I erased all content and setting and did a fresh restore and set up as new phone. The first thing I did was delete iCloud all together. Unplugged phone this morning at 7am and as of now I have 7.5 hrs standby and 1.5 hrs usage and I'm at 92% still. Could it be iCloud?

I didn't turn anything else off and am waiting for the 24 hour mark so I can check my location services and especially system services to see if anything has bee used.

If it's iCloud then it has to be something that's broken, because I used MobileMe push and syncing on the iPhone 4 and had great battery life, not so much on the 4S

I can't complain at all. Off the charger at 8 AM. Read facebook and AP mobile news for an hour while listening to music on the way to work. A few texts during the day. Check Facebook for 15 minutes at a time when I grab a cigarette break. Listen to music on the way home from work another hour. Surf the net a bit off and on in the evening. Got to 8pm before I got the 20% message. 12 hours of normal usage and I am pretty happy.

My batteries are fine, exactly what I'd expect.

I always keep most location services off because I think they are the drainers. I have Maps, Siri and Weather on only. I will also manage my notifications carefully.

I'm thrilled with the battery life in my White 32G 4S. With my 3GS I was always down to 10-30% by the time I got home at the end of the day. Now it's always above 50%, often way above that.

When I got my phone I just set it as a new phone instead of restoring from a back up and I turned off Ping because I remembered that being discussed a while back when, I think, iOS4 was released. I haven't made any other changes.

Facts need to be analyzed because not everyone is having battery problems. That's why people are trying to figure out what might be causing it. It's pretty obvious that it's not an issue for everyone, so we need to look at what the differences are in people's phone setups, etc. and see what the problem might be.

Some people think it might be an issue with the new antenna. Could be that it's causing people's phones to constantly switching between antennas and searching for the best signal. I'd say that's a possibility, since turning things on/off only seems to help a small portion of the people having problems. It may have to do with the location you're in and what the phone is doing to get a signal. It's just a guess, but it's as good as any others I've heard.

Fair enough...

I suspect i know why my battery life is half what it used to be. I work on the 17th floor of a building in manhattan. The new antenna design is chewing through battery trying to find signal. In the iPhone 4, I had 4 bars and a pretty solid connection. On the 4S, I have four bars too, but the phone must be constantly trying to signal switch or something.

I'm using iCloud. I have two exchange accounts setup to push email. Gmail and work, so I'm getting a lot of emails from work. I have wifi, bt, and just about all location services on except for time zone.

So far, 3 hrs and 40 min ago since my last full charge and it's down to 88%. And that's with using it for fb, instagram, texting, etc too.

No complaints here.

Update on this, haven't plugged my phone back in yet. It's now been since my last charge

16hs, 5 min standby
3 hs, 56 min usage

And I'm down to 55%. Using it in my typical manner and kept it on over night. Seems pretty good to me.

My first iPhone and so far happy with the battery life. Started with a full charge at 100% yesterday morning. Had about 40 minutes of calls and checked e-mail, etc. This morning battery level at 66% which is pretty good in my opinion.

I have my screen brightness all the way up, use wifi, location services like find my friends are on all day, mail set to push, a host of other apps set up to push notifications, and my battery life has been great.

My phone has been unplugged for 5 hours now, and I would say I've been using is slightly less than average this morning, but I have used it a bit. It's at 96%

Mine has been fine. I did cycle once, and that did make a difference (heck it was on 1% for like 30 minutes of video/net usage before it turned off) and then I cleaned up location services.

Getting excellent battery life!

My wife didn't have issues out of the box.

Mine sucked. Lost 6-7%/hour. Rogue background process. Nothing I changed, deleted, or messed with did anything to stop it, other than Airplane mode.

Got a replacement from Apple, and it works perfectly.

Trust me, there is SOMETHING out there plaguing a wide number of 4Ss.

I've been using the hell out of my phone. Got home after a full days use. I was pretty much constantly on it all day and still have 30% battery left. Threw it on the charger and now 25 minutes later its all the way back up to 82%. No complaints here.

no issues at all

in fact its more then i expected, perhaps because my 3gs had become so weakened by now.

i love the 4s, and love that i got a white one this time. everyday getting more used to and loving that color, wasn't so sure at first, but its fab!
