Someone recently posted a thread on this, stating how having your AW is reminiscent of a simpler time. The temptation to get distracted on your phone after receiving a simple notification is too high. Would much rather prefer to check with the simplicity of a watch, and then continue with whatever it is that I was doing.

Personally feel that people are far too immersed in their mobiles.

God dammit. It's the Prius all over again!

Apples and oranges.

We went through all of this on that other thread about usefulness of the Apple watch.

I’m still on a 6s and pretty happy with it; the battery life is dreadful though so having the watch is good as a backup as well as when I forget my phone.

I think it's an advantage if you have the Apple Watch where you don't have to rely on your 6S to conserve battery when you're taking a phone call or messages for the LTE version.

I have bought every new phone since the 3g. I bought a new watch instead of the X. I'd already found myself using my phone less and less - and for a very specific subset of things - and I've actually grown fond of my matte black 7 - it's become my favorite form factor in many generations. The X would not do any of the things I use my phone for materially better than the 7 does, while the AW LTE is a significant leap forward. Besides the fact that it has become my primary running watch, I just like the fact that I can leave my phone behind in many situations. Watch the world around you for a few days. Nearly everywhere we go in public nearly everyone is buried in their phones. Often we are using them for no real reason other than they are in our pocket and it's habit to pull them out. The watch helps break that habit, and I like that.
[doublepost=1509582024][/doublepost]Primary running watch as opposed to which one, curious? What app do you run with? I normally use Map My Run but can’t get it to work without my iPhone. What are you using for music? Can you help, spent a lot of time on phone today with Apple and made little progress figuring out if this phone is the answer for me...a device I can use separate from my phone to run and listen to music with. Txs.

I have both a Garmin 225 and Fenix 2. I will continue to use the 225 for most races, but I like the new AW for my daily running. I prefer the iSmoothRun app because of its flexibility, but am currently using the stock Apple Workout app because it's much faster and allows me to use the physical buttons to pause/resume my run. The iSmoothRun developer has indicated he will be bringing this feature to his app as well, at which point I will likely switch back.

I don't personally run with music but have spoken to a number of people who are reasonably happy with the AW and their Bluetooth headphones. What are you concerned about with that?

I tried running today with Map My Run, and it sound had to have iPhone on me to track. My goal is to not carry a phone, have a running watch, and capability to listen to music. I used to run with a FR 605, then the app and Bluetooth headphones along with Amazon Music. You’re running with phone at home, right, just using LTE signal?

Correct. I run just with the watch, no phone. I would suggest using another app other than Map My Run. Either iSmoothRun which exports to virtually any service directly, or the Workout app which can export through the use of a 3rd party app like RunGap.
