If they’ve done anything to address the PWM flicker, yes! If not, I think I’ll be switching to either a mini or an Air with their LCD screen.

I never thought PWM sensitivity was an issue for me but I get instant headaches and nausea from the M4 iPad Pro, within a few minutes of using it. No other OLED screens have ever caused this.

Was thinking about upgrading because it shows on device monitor app that I am using a lot of ram with just a gig or two left on my 8gb m4 however I tested with same apps on my IPhone 17 Pro Max and it said the same thing and it has 12gb of ram. It sounds like the ram utilization on these things are really good. Not experiencing any slowdown so not sure that its worth it if it would take up the same amount of ram as my 17 pro max does.

I am thinking of going from M2 to M5, but I would have to buy the new Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil Pro as well. I wish they would have a trade in option for accessories.

I on the same boat, though I think I’m going to keep my 11” M2 for the time being. It would make it so much easier if I could trade in my MKB along with my IPP to put towards the a new iPad. But I may end up just selling everything as a bundle on Swappa (when the time comes to upgrade).

I guess not many other than a chip upgrade is there much else happening? I’m surprised they still do yearly updates im sure the took a break a few years back?
It’s not yearly updates, it’s around every ~18 months for the Pro.

I bought the M4 after release for its OLED display, relative lightness, and the landscape camera. The M5 would change nothing about that. Also, with the current state of iPadOS 26, I’m certainly not buying a new iPad anytime soon.

Yes I am upgrading from M4 to M5.

  • Apple is offering me 50% of what I paid for my launch day M4 via credit
  • I can reuse my keyboard and pencil
  • I am upgrading from 256GB model to 1TB model for more storage
  • I am getting slightly faster multicore experience vs if I had gone 256->256/512 with 1 more CPU core.
  • Double the RAM from 8GB to 16GB. M4 8GB refreshes Safari tabs way too often. Hoping for better performance in Lightroom.
  • I upgraded to dynamic chargers 40w/60w so I can take advantage of faster charging speeds already.
  • I use the cellar plan so I will benefit from the C1X
  • I have WiFi 7 mesh network so N1 will be nice
  • Presuming this has the enhanced security that the A19 Pro chips have as extra bonus.
This will likely become my iPad Pro for the next few years and I don't plan on upgrading to the M6. This will allow me maximum life out my keyboard and pencil as well since those accessories are unnecessarily expensive.

Was hoping to get nano texture on base models as I really liked it but couldn’t justify getting the big storage options. Will wait for a refurbished to see what prices are.

Even the basic iPad offers little over the 10th and the 12th expected to be same. Why update yearly?
I always wonder the same thing. It seems like a bit much to update everything yearly other than the iPhone. I think the iPd Pro is an 18 month cycle though. Mac and iPad should be on a 24 month cycle
