My 3rd gen was always in a case.

However, I'm not going to use one with this 4th gen.

The thing never leaves the home, which is one thing. Also, I switched to white this time round, therefore it does not end up looking dirty due to it being covered with fingerprints, like the black model. Therefore, I'm more comfortable with "handling it".

But the main reason, for me, is that it is a much nicer experience when using it without a case. The feel in the had is nice, also the weight is manageable. But most importantly (for me) is that it is much easier and faster to flip between portrait and landscape when the iPad is "naked", therefore I tend to enjoy it more as I can be switching between apps and using them as they were intended.

When my 3rd gen was cased up, I would tend to use it always in landscape mode, while it was propped up somewhere, and that's just not the way it's meant to be used.

Of course, everyone has their own way of using their iPad, but I am really enjoying using it without a case.

To finish, I'll say that I'm trying to change my attitude this time round. I was soooo worried about getting a scratch or a mark on my 3rd gen that quite frankly, I wasn't enjoying it! The same thing happened with my 4S, too. So, with this 4th gen, and my iPhone 5, I'm just saying "screw it, it's just a device and I'm going to enjoy it".

It's good to try new things ... :)
