Obviously, he meant hardware as "electronic parts that defines iphone". Not cosmetic parts...

um actually, "obviously" the person was talking about hardware build quality, not internal parts. or are you saying the person opened the s2 up, felt the battery/internal drive/etc and derived "feels solid-ish but cheap" from those components?

duh.

....

Your going to be sorely disappointed if your going to the 4S then for battery life as my S2 last longer then the 4S, almost as long as my 4 (pre iOS5)... 4S is not close to the 4 in life for in-use or standby. You have to know how to setup these phones, like my buddy who had app's running in the background and wifi and bluetooth and every other setting you could imagine and app's updating constantly like every 30-60 min and wondered why he had bad battery life lol. I haven't charged my phone since 8am yesterday, and even after calls,, streaming pandora, text, browsing online and about 30 minutes of words with friends I'm at 9% battery right now at 11 am. Battery life seems to not be as good as before though since the last update, lot of people complaining about that... but no different then Apple's recent updates that haven't fixed majority of issues, my 3GS and 4 went down the tubes in life since iOS5 no matter what settings I adjust or even restoring as new.

You'd be better off finding a used 4 running on like 4.3.5 if battery life is your main concern.

I'm not sure how you ended up with a S2 that'll even come CLOSE to the same or actually as you state 'longer' battery life than the 4s! I've owned the S2 and iPhone 4 all year...my wife also has the iPhone 4. Not EVEN Close!!! The iP4 has and has had at least DOUBLE the capacity of my S2, including two of my friends that have the Galaxies.

I just bought my iP4s on launch day. Not a SINGLE issue with battery life. 64gig model...over 200 apps, I use location service, BT, 3g, WiFi, et al. Not a bit of difference between it's life and my iP4. These "bat-gate" comments are truly and magnificently over-embellished! Obviously...when you're shipping this many phones (3.5 million activated *4s* on Christmas day ALONE!), there are bound to be some bad apples. And folks with 'issues' and 'challenges' with their new device ten to speak much louder than those without.

If there TRULY was a battery life issue with the 4s, the outcry would be HUGE! Every review I've seen...not a single one has had the problems sounded by so few. Again. OverBlown! And I've owned two iP4s's....I originally got the 32gig. Used for a week...wanted the 64...they got 'em in at my Apple Store and I exchanged. Was I perhaps lucky? With two phones and NO difference in battery life? Perhaps...but I'm skeptical.

I've also owned a couple of the original iPads. A 16g wifi and a 64g 3g. Awesome Experience...with BOTH! iPad 2 launch day...same, I bought two, 32g Wifi (wife) and 64g 3g (mine). Since launch day, I've had battery issues with my 64gig. Read in the morning, the news while getting ready. Shut it with 94% left, open at lunch to check email...down to 79%!!! OUCH! Didn't happen on ANY of my other iPads...either the originals, or my wife's new iPad2.

Long story short...took the problem iPad to the Apple store last week...the genius ran a quick diagnostic. BAM! iPad was NOT going in to stand by for some reason. Exact quote from genius "I'm NOT happy with this iPad's hardware, I'll be right back". Came back to the counter with a brand spankin' new iPad 64-3g. Pulled it out of the box, turned it on, activated with my SIM from my old iPad, erased the broken one...out the store, less than 5 minutes.

Just saying! There are going to be bad apples (pardon the pun). But Apple's support and exchange policy is second to none.

IMVHO, and other than the new Nexus (I'm brand agnostic and have owned several Android phones and tabs), there is NOT a 'Droid phone that can keep up (battery wise--everything other argument aside) with any of the same generation iPhones. It's one thing Apple has done absolutely RIGHT on these little guys!!! They last ALL day:)

I was so paranoid buying the iP4s that I bought the Mophie case (w/battery) as a contingency plan...NEVER have I had to use it in the month and a half I've owned it! And I use my iPhone constantly! ALL DAY!!!

Sorry...didn't mean to ramble. But I think (as many, well respected reviewers and Droid owners) that you maybe got Very VERY lucky with your "S2's" battery life;) It's not that way for most of us!

Well all I can say is other 4 owners have posted that the S2 (specifically the i777 version, since it seems to be the most efficient one and smoothest since there are different variations with different processors etc) have lasted longer then the 4S and close to the 4 on other boards. I know mine does, that's all I can say. My 4 still wins on standby though, no phone is close to it's standby time as far as I know.

Not sure what else your rambling about though, but i get the gist of what your saying lol... what I was saying was after iOS5 both my 3GS and 4 took a nose dive in battery life even with any draining settings off, synch, location etc. Restoring as new doesn't make a difference, the 3GS is jb'd and old boot-ram with blobs saved, when I revert back to previous OS the battery life is better and no more wifi issue like is occurring with others inc my iphones on iOS5 which Apple finally acknowledged there is an issue but not sure why it's affecting some and not others.

I have a friend with the t-mobile S2, and another with the Skyrocket, and neither last as long as the i777 which seems to be the most sorted of the S2 variants. But these phones in generally do need to be tweaked even on stock rom, my life was so-so at first, then once I went through settings and adjusted stuff, and checked app's that were running constantly in the background for no purpose etc... was much better, though the new update at&t released seems to have dropped battery life somewhat.

I was also wary of iOS 5 because of the battery issues reported here but i went ahead and update my iPhone 4 to 5.0.1 anyway. Battery life is amazing and same. Played MC3 yesterday night for 2 hours (online multiplayer) and took a 15% hit. Impressive.

No way my old SGS2 would ever come even close to this usage. That thing loses 20% in an hour even on wifi browsing with strong signal, let alone gaming.

I have a company issued 4S, and personal S2. They both have pluses and minus, but battery life isn't one them. The battery is excellent on both, and if you're seeing major differences with either, you're not comparing like for like, and either have brightness set differently or using different Apps.

This is why I hate arguing with illiterate trolls on internet.

He said rotten apple gets their hardware parts from Samsung. They do. A5 chips are built by Samsung. Now, if rotten apple fanboy force like you say Samsung hardware quality sucks, that must also mean apple's hardware quality for their phones sucks. Why? Because apple uses the very same build quality for electronic parts from Samsung.

Is it too hard for your brain to comprehend, or should I dumb down what I just said?

It is a boring phone. There is no shame in telling the truth.

I can't tell if you are being sarcastic. I bought it at first because I wanted to use it as an iPod, also I can make calls in addition to use it as an iTouch.

But none of the apps really excited me. Playing games is just not my thing. So, I returned it.

That would be nice if it was true. Your message implies that IP4S can handle 13.3 hours of game playing on one charge. One wish it could...

Nope. Read it again, i am using an iPhone 4. Clearly stated.

However, that does not mean i will keep it for long. 4S is fine and good but i now have a console and play age of empires sometimes on my PC (just an old games nut, love that strategy series) i am inclined towards a galaxy nexus. The camera is crappier than the 4 IMO but oh well, that's what google loves to do with their pure flagship. I just love how i don't have to zoom on that 4.5 inch screen just like my 4 and browsing will be fun. I will have to take a battery hit however :(

lol, love the image but what are you implying :p

Having been an original iPhone user, and an Android user since the original Droid launched on Verizon, I just went from my iPhone 4 to the Galaxy Nexus, and last week returned the Nexus and will be picking up an iPhone 4S tomorrow. While I love both platforms, and don't get into the "this is better than that" arguments, I can say that my cell phone habits have been changing, and that's why I'm moving back to an iPhone. I love the Nexus and I think it's an amazing phone but the biggest reason I returned it is the camera, it's *****. I couldn't justify $300 for a top of the line device with a bottom of the line camera.

But looking at the overall picture, having been a long time WinMo user and loving tweaking and customizing my phones, I've found myself more and more just wanting to pick up my phone, use it effortlessly, and set it down. When I got the Nexus I spent so much time customizing it, changing it up, downloading apps to fix things I didn't like (Sound+ to fix low volume issue, GoSMS to replace stock SMS app, Rooting so I can tweak and install leaked radios, etc). I started to miss the simpleness and out of the box perfection of the iPhone. I guess I now have so much else going on in my life I don't like to have to put so much thought and effort into my phones.

And I think that is what draws so many people back to the iPhone after trying out other platforms. The out of the box polish and readiness. With Android phones you have usually (not for everyone) have to do so much customizing and tweaking to get it to how you want. Now I do think Windows Phone would be even better for me in this regard but until the Windows app selection is much better and MS allows just a little more customization in the UI (wallpaper behind tiles and less tiles) I won't give it a serious look.

I'm doing the exact same thing. Got a galaxy nexus around Christmas and returned it after a week. Mainly due to the battery life and bugs in Ice Cream sandwich. Im using my iPhone 4 and I'm getting the 4s today. iPhone's are just the best over all

I miss IOS but I could never go back to a screen that small after using the epic for a few weeks.

The thing seriously has better black levels than my panasonic plasma.

i had the 4s for about a month. i loved it but got bored of it. did an even swap on craigslist for a s2. i loved it at first. i used it for about 2 months. after the newness had worn off, i just found myself frustrated with mispellings while texting and the just the overall sluggishness of the phone.

i did enjoy the screen. i use my slingbox everyday and the size really is a big deal. but normal everyday tasks have become a pain and require two hands and my complete focus. unlike the iphone which i can almost text with without looking at..

i just did another craigslist swap for an iphone 4.

im glad i gave android a shot so at least i know what its like.
