I like it. I'm replacing a Late-2010 iMac with the new M1 iMac so no matter what Apple did, it's a huge step up for me. I like the evolution of Apple's minimalist/industrial design, but with a nod to the original iMac via colors. And lf course for those not feeling the nostalgia the M1 iMac is offered in silver.
When I bought my 27" iMac the other choice was 21.5", just a little too small for my taste. My previous desktop computer was a PowerMac G3 with a dual-monitor setup. I figured I needed the screen real estate. But it's huge on my desk, which had to be a table if I wanted anything else next to it.
Initially I was disappointed with the lack of a larger option on the new 2021 iMac. But I'm now realizing my 27" is way larger than I need or use, so why clutter my table with all that unused area? The new 24" size is right in my wheelhouse. And will I take a look at the larger version we all know will be released shortly? Of course I will! But it will have to be so over the top if I'm going to upgrade again.
The only puzzling thing for me, echoed by others already, is lack of gigabit ethernet. Ironically I am upgrading our home internet on Monday to gigabit FiOS service. I liked having my iMac connected via ethernet while everything else used WiFi as it was a safeguard for WiFi dropping out. Oh well.
