Accomplished some tasks I’d been avoiding so finally ordered the Series 3 cellular. My AW0 will go to my daughter. My Series 0 has been productively used every day for 3 years and remains my favorite piece of tech. (And the battery is still going strong). But for me, the ability to make calls without my phone could be literally a lifesaver.

I think too, being the first generation Apple Watch will be discontinued with watchOS 5 support, it still does everything that it always has, It just won’t have the future updates of any new features. Someone’s first generation Apple Watch that still is operating as good as yours, still could easily perform another year or so until the battery is fully depleted and needs to be replaced.

I've got money put away specifically for an S4, and until that one is released, I'm using my S0. I only run the default programs, and aside from the expected lagginess it works good enough for me. I might keep it as a spare for a while, or give it to someone to lure them into the Dick Tracy lifestyle...

I've still got mine, however, it was lent to my partner and she managed to crack the heart rate monitor cover somehow!?

Either way, it was becoming way too slow, frustrating trying to play music whilst doing a workout so I went and treated myself to a S3.

I still have mine (from launch) and it works just the same... except the screen is permanently darker which I imagine is some sort of water damage!

Still use mine, but the gyro is broken so the AW does not wake up when i raise my hand. Aside that it‘s ok, but apps like Pokémon Go really push the limits on the S0. Money is aside for the 42mm AW4 already.

I wear my S0 every day as well. I do appreciate little changes that have come along, like control over "Now Playing" volume and such.

I find that if I need to work out in the evening, then I have to charge it for about 1/2 hour first so that I can get through. Also, Strava has become hit-and-miss with it (loses runs), so I use a 3rd party app to load workouts from the watch into Strava.

A friend's S0 has fared much worse. Her's barely holds a charge, and she's turned off the wake up function - she taps the face to see the time. My battery life isn't much worse than when I got it.

I'm going to give mine to a neighbour when the S4 comes out so that she can get caught up in the cult of the rings as well.

Lots of really great reviews for the LTE watch here in the office. My wife and I are each getting LTE versions of the S4.

Got mine the day before Xmas during launch, it finally died yesterday on me. I was going to go on a bike ride and I noticed it was at 30%. I put it on my portable charger and watched the battery continue to drop. Restarted/reset/repaired...nothing.

So I ran out to a best buy and bought a series 3 (no cellular) which will become my mom’s when the series 4 comes out (which was my original upgrade goal).

I can’t say I’m upset at all other than the timing of it all.

OLED is very sensitive to water, if the display over time is increasingly becoming darker, it will eventually short out completely. Being a first GEN watch, it likely wouldn’t make sense to have something like that repaired anyways.

I have my SS S0, but bought a Space Gray Aluminum Series 3 GPS today. Amazed at the speed difference so far. Now I have my 2 teens fighting over who gets the S0. The battery only last about 1/2 day at this point, so I think I'll just keep it rather than deal with the drama of choosing who gets it. My wife doesn't want it as she would not be able to wear it at her job anyway....

I'm still using my S0 every day. I recently migrated to 4.3.1 due to a botched attempt to get my iPhone from 10.2 to 11.3.1. I'm now sitting on 11.4 and 4.3.1. I don't know if it is the placebo effect of having something different, but the watch appears to be more responsive on 4.3.1 than it did on 3. Note that I've enabled "reduced motion" in the settings simply because I didn't like the "layered" effect of the dock apps. Not sure why they moved from the side scrolling full screen dock - but anyway.

As for battery life, I can get through a day with 75% remaining. When doing a workout I usually lose about 20% of battery each hour (so I can max at about 4.5 hours).

First gen user here! Use mine every day - has a few scratches round the edges, but the screen is in perfect nick. I don't even have the SS version.

I'll upgrade with the AW4 - nothing has tempted me to do so yet & i'm hoping for something actually new, not just improved internals.

The atrocious battery life forced me to look at other options which lead me to the series 2.

Still have it and using it. I am charging it twice a day now...but still does fine. If S4 has blood sugar or oxygen measurements, then i will upgrade.

I can't really use mine with workouts much anymore because then my battery dies by 7-8pm. I will be upgrading come September. I probably should have upgraded last year, but I'm glad I waited as the rumors are for larger edge-to-edge displays. Using the S3 at the store it's amazing how much faster it is in every way. The speed alone is worth the upgrade IMO. I just hope the new SS version doesn't have that stupid red dot on the crown.

Disclaimer: I don’t have a source for this claim:

I read somewhere it was rumored Jonny Ive was _not_ happy with the addition of the red dot on the Digital Crown, since Decemebr 2017, Ive resumed direct responsibility for the company’s product design, which it should be interesting to see if there is any shifts with the red Digital Crown if it exists in the future or not.

SS S0 38mm here. Gets me through the day if there's no workout involved. Otherwise, I need to charge for an hour to get me through Workout + Music (no phone).

I'm dead set on a S4 but for what I'm using S0 for, it still works like a champ.

Five (IIRC) more days, and my OG watch turns three years old. It's been a long, mostly good ride. Used the white rubber sport band for nearly a year, then switched to woven nylon with wrong, dumb colors and wore that for two years. Recently bought the pride nylon band, which looks wicked fantastic. Really loving it.

Not sure why they moved from the side scrolling full screen dock
Probably because it's confusing having a horizontal scrolling dock and a vertical spinning crown. Not sure why they made the dock horizontal in wOS 3 in the first place; I wouldn't have... :p

If S4 has blood sugar or oxygen measurements, then i will upgrade.
Unlikely it will, as if it does the watch would allegedly have to be classified as a medical device, and would thus require passing much stricter compliance regulations. This might even make Apple liable in case of measurement errors and people getting injured as a result, and I doubt they'd like that...

I hope so. It's also due for a design update. I mean, it's the Apple Watch, so it doesn't really have much of a track record, but I can't think of any other iOS device that has gone four generations looking the same. I guess a Watch is a more timeless design and it's already fairly simple, but I'd be happy with a move back to a black button and a 46-48mm display with reduced bezels. If they must denote whether it has cellular for resellers then put it on the description that rims the back.

Yes since about a month after it was first availabile... but ready to order the new one when introduced.
Been dunking it in saltwater every since and has been ok except for recently the button feels a little stuck sometimes.

I got the 42 ss so at launch and it has worked well...I can still usually get through a day without running out of charge started at 6am this morning and I still have 26% at 10:20pm... but over the weekend I was swatting a mosquito and my wedding band hit the crystal cause a crack from top to bottom...still functional, but not pretty. Trying to talk myself into waiting for the s4 but very tempted to get a s3 now...

Apple actually advises you can rinse off the Apple Watch, and turn the digital crown at the same time, which will loosen any debris that might be causing the digital crown to stick. Be sure to thoroughly dry it off when you’re through.

I still wear mine everyday and got it when it first came out.

Im still waiting on a version to come out worth upgrading to..

Im hoping the next AW is a redesign.

To me the speed bump in the newer ones and the better water resistance isnt worth the upgrade. I been taking showers and swimming with my S0 since i got it no issues.

Stores refuse to let me trade in my S0 and some only offer $60

but my S0 still runs the latest software so im still using it daily waiting for a better watch..

anybody else feel the same?

I feel that same way
