I dont believe it for one second. Ipad 2 buyers would be pissed to say the least. And by the way, they just caught up with demand for the iPad 2.

Just because customers would be pissed doesn't mean Apple won't release a new iPad - even with the yearly update cycle customers are still unhappy! I think Apple would still go ahead with it even if some cusomers would be pissed because their iPad 2 is still quite new.

Nevertheless, it could be possible and I wouldn't be surprised if Apple did release a new iPad this fall.

Honestly, I'd say "highly likely", but don't let that discourage you from getting an iPad 2 right now. Apple has to keep up with competition, and pushing the limits of resolution on a device of that size (if current rumors are to be believed) would really give them an edge.

That being said, the iPad 2 is a really nice device. If you want one, go for it.

They have the edge. iPad 2 is doing amazing!

It's extremely rare when Apple breaks an established refresh cycle. When they do, they tend to be late -- not early. However, I wouldn't be surprised if it *did* happen. The tablet market is extremely hot right now. While the iPad 2 is doing great, the market is changing very rapidly with new tablets being released monthly.

Correction: The iPad market is extremely hot right now.

I doubt it.

An iPad 3 this year will come off as apologetic, like the iPad 2 wasn't good enough. If I know one thing about Apple, it's that they have a lot of pride in their products.

Well, the rumors swirling around seem to point to a complimentary device. Essentially a "pro" version of the current iPad, with a higher quality screen. Granted, most rumors are total BS, but this one could be true.

I don't see any point releasing 2 iPads in one year.
very unlikely to me especially when they should be dealing with a another big release which is a new iPhone and iOS 5

An additional "iPad Pro" is possible, with a solid price offset to compensate for the retina high resolution screen ... I would not say no to it ...

Think they need to attend to other areas, not a single green in the Buyer's Guide now.
