Man, I wish I had read about this before I bought a case. I don't use the bumpers. Instead I bought the NGP from incipio. Really nice case, not silicone, but a semi-rigid dense polymer.

I took the case off a few weeks ago to clean the phone and the band, both sides is marked up. I thought it could be wiped off, but these marks are permanent.

So a genuine apple bumper is damaging the metal bands on our phones. Any point in complaining or trying to get the phone swapped at the apple store. The bumper is supposed to protect from scratches not cause them.

What do you guys think or will they just laugh me out of the apple store.

Def laugh you out of the store ;)

It's not the bumper that is scratching your phone, its the fact that people are not taking off their bumper and cleaning the dust/debris that can get inside the case.

It's the same as if you were to put a bunch of sand inside your bumper before you put it on your iPhone and then went to Apple and said "see! your bumper scratched my phone!"

That's not true. I needed to have my phone replaced after my home button was acting up. When I gave my phone to the genius he asked why I had a spectra wrap underneath the bumper. I explained to him it was to prevent further damage caused by my bumper. He used that excuse to not only replace my phone but my bumper as well. Said so right on the receipt.

Yes, it is the dirt and not the bumper. I had my bumper on for months with no damage and took it off every two or three days. I got lazy and left it on for a few weeks and took it off. All four sides had scratches and a few pits in them.

Well, just because of this nonsense, looks like the iPhone is going back for some unknown reason. I will decide what the reason is after I make the genius appointment and before I get there.
