Updated one of our iPhone 4's last night and most definitely it has improved the battery life - probably since they fixed the bug relating to connecting to cellular networks.

Updating the rest of the family now....great way to spend a Saturday morning

"I notice a significant improvement in battery depletion time. Also, web browsing seems faster."

Is what i said yesterday.......HOWEVER, to my surprise this morning, my ipad had only charged to 91% after being plugged in the whole night.:confused: Anyone else experience this?

(iPad 2 here)

My iPad 2 is so much better in terms of battery life now. I have had it decrease only 3% since I updated at midnight. I didn't think the battery was that bad before but now the standby time has greatly improved.

This my be a dumb question, but I bought the iPad 1 from ATT 64bg 3G for $529 and it is supposed to be delivered today(couldn't pass up that deal). When I sync up on iTunes, will the new update automatically load or will i have to do it separately. I know I'm late for the iPad party, but looking forward to playing with it. Thanks.

When your iPad is plugged in, just select the " check for update" option in the Summary tab window in iTunes, if it doesn't load automatically.

Are you people really this gullible? Apple has obviously just tweaked the battery life REPORTING, not the actual battery life.

I'll know by the end of the day. With 4.2, by Saturday usage, at work, would cause the phone to drop to 65%. With 4.3, it would drop to 50% or less. So we'll see after 3pm PDT what it is at, and go from there.

TEG

Aw f@&k! I knew it! So what you're saying is when I'm down to 20% battery im actually down below that? Since they just changed the way it's being reported.

+1

Checked email, surfed a bit, watched a couple of You Tube vids and it's still at 100%. I'm liking this.

Same here. On my iPhone I would normally charge daily or every day and a half.. I am charging every 2-3 days now. I love the longer battery life. My iPad I got on Thursday and it's been on since and used all day (haven't turned on the MacBook at all) and I haven't charged since the first charge Thursday.. Still 30% battery :)

I don't think anyone literally means they tweaked the batteries physical life span. What they tweaked was battery drain issues, not the reporting.

iOS 4.3.1 made my lock/mute switch stop working on my iPad 2.

How do I downgrade back to iOS 4.3?

Ever notice Apple has the massively irritating habit of "x.0.1" releases shortly after releasing x.0.0? I swear, ever Apple major release is followed within one or two weeks by another release. iOS 4.3 -> 4.3.1, iTunes 10.2 -> 10.2.1. And now Xcode, 4.0 -> 4.0.1, which is another 4.5GB download, thanks Apple.

It would be nice if Apple could release something right the first time, instead of constantly releasing products that have a serious enough bug to warrant an immediate update.

Haven't updated my iPhone 4 yet, but I too noticed awful battery life post 4.3 update. Did a full battery discharge two days in a row, and even though it seemed to take longer than usual to recharge, the battery life was much better (I play Scrabble/Words With Friends online throughout the day at work, so I usually have about 60% [on 3G] left after working 9 hours, but I was down to 35-45% after update). Last Friday I was back to about 60% after playing, so maybe the battery just needed some TLC?

Or maybe my phone will never discharge after the update? One can hope.

Apple software engineers must laugh their a$$ off at all the people that rush to conclusions of better battery life and snappier web browsing every time an update is released...

I have done the update from 4.3 on iPad v1 and can say I haven't really noticed a difference in battery life.
I find that if anything starts acting oddly all I have to do is a reset (Top and home button) until the Apple appears and all is right again.

The only odd thing is that some apps (BBC news, Sky news, and Facepad) appear to crash more frequently but Ill just remove them and add again to see if there is an improvement.

The lock/mute switch works fine under 4.3.1. Trying toggling your settings, it's not an OS issue.

Yeah, but the switch was working with iOS 4.3. Anyway, I returned my iPad 2 and got a refund. I'll get another in the future.
