I'm sure Apple worked out something so that there is an obvious difference in the connection so that the carrier can bill accordingly.

So for those using PDANET, AT&T probably can't tell.

But for those enabling the new Apple supported tethering, I'd be very afraid. All it would take is for the OS to change MAC addresses base on the connection type (standard data vs tethering.)

It's not hard guys....to assume they can't tell is not only naive, it's just plain foolish.
that makes sense tbh

So...does anyone know what the "over 500 unbilled data records" message means? Does it just mean they haven't posted all my data usage to my account, or is it related to extra charges beyond my regular monthly bill? There must be someone that knows for sure what this lingo means. If anyone out there knows or has definitely been charged for tethering with the 3.0 hack, then please post for all our sakes:) Thanks!

I'm in the clear!

Just checked my account on AT&T's website today and that "over 500 unbilled data records" message is gone! Looks like it just means that there were data reords that were not yet added to my usage statement or whatever. I guess those who tether on AT&T can breathe a little sigh of relief, at least for now. I would recommend not going crazy with it and attracting attention to your account though. Anyway, it looks like occasional tethering with normal light web browsing is probably safe for the time being. Thanks for all the replies!:)
