I understand that people come to a place like MacRumors when they have problems, which can exaggerate the quality control issues one sees here, but still--for one person to have to go through four computers to get one that is satisfactory is rather alarming.

I KNOW!!! After I went through the first two, I figured maybe the store got a bad batch or something. So I went to another apple store for my 3rd laptop. Bam!! Another defective one. But this one i'm currently using has been good to me so far. At least the genius didn't give me a hard time as I was telling them my story while handing them 3 receipts with exchanges on them. hehe

Personally, I think that people having these kinds of repeated issues is an *extremely* small percentage of the population. Over the past year, I've had to service a much larger percentage of our non-Mac computers than mac computers. The only major repair I had to perform on a Mac (out of 50ish Macs overseen by the office) during this time was when a PowerMac's cooling leaked after being exposed to below 0F temperatures. Everything else was minor (replacing a hard drive or battery) or caused by the user (dropped, etc.).

Just a question, how long is the initial start up?
the reason I ask is because I would like to look it over before I get it hope in hope of minimizing the number of trips I would possibly have to take to the store even though its close and I love going there.
