Hoping for something like this just for the controversy and whining that would result.

Ha ha yeah I mean they already showed the front in the iPad 1 box, The iPad 2 showed the sides so the next logical step would be the bottom/top. I kid of course

Wow, I'm kind of surprised. You'd think they would show off the display more, but instead it looks like they are touting the thinness here. And aside from the different home screen background, it's virtually identical to the iPad 2 box. Confusing.

Yes I know how lame I sound, and I get why Apple don't dress up their boxes anymore

Quite a few apple products are still hand packaged, with cost going up to $10-12 per item for the assembly alone (ie this doesn't include the material cost for the physical packaging).

Yeah it seems very minimalistic doesn't it. Though that does tend to be what they go for a lot of the time. Maybe they were trying to show off the view angles too.
