The only reason I may not want Apple Care might be if I plan to sell it within a year for the next gen iPhone. That's what I did with my previous iPhone 5S. However, for this phone, I foresee myself using it for 2 years.

You can cancel AppleCare+ mid-stream. So once you sell the phone, you can call and get a pro-rated credit.

Though, if you drop your phone and make a claim through AppleCare+, then cancel later, the cost of that repair gets deducted from your refund. One drop is usually more than enough to wipe out the balance of any refund, since you'll have gotten your money's worth. So just keep that in mind.

Screen replacement cost isn't that much. At least I figured it would be twice as much.

I dropped my 6 in a Sipgen Slim Armor case and it landed perfectly square on a corner breaking the screen. About a 35" drop onto a wood floor. Very minor but a perfect landing I guess...

That is something new. Thanks for the information. :)

He might be able to take it back to Apple anyway. Sometimes they can be forgiving.

Yes, take it back. My brother dropped his new iPad Plus within 3 hours of purchase and they gave him a new one. He did not have Apple Care. Worth a chance.

Between that and to co-worker who insisted on putting my phone in his pocket, naked, WITH HIS KEYS JINGLING ALL OVER IT, I don't care about being rude anymore.

That would qualify for some workplace violence in my opinion!;)

Anyone dropped their iPhone 6+ already?

That's scary as I'm using a slim armor on my plus.... I've dropped it once on my tile floor from about the same height and it was the softest sounding impact I've ever heard compared to all the OB commuters I've had in the past. Hoping this won't happen to me as I'm really starting to love my slim armor after two weeks with it.

As far as screen replacement, I honestly couldn't believe just how cheap Apple is charging for it. I really expected much worse!

Because my previous IPhones were small and lived in my front jeans pocket, nothing much ever happened to them.

I don't know why but I put the 6 Plus through hell. I think because the large screen makes it so much more desirable to always have out and in use. But when you're an active mom always doing stuff, stuff happens. I've dropped it, sat on it (since I now often keep it in my back jeans pocket), stepped on it--was on a sleeping bag. I've also let my 10 year old borrow it to FaceTime with her recuperating best friend who was borrowing her mom's IPhone. It's slid out of the cup holder in in my car and hit the floor during a sudden stop. I really should get a smaller IPhone 6 next time so the phone can live in the relative safety of my front pocket more...but I'm not sure I'd want that. :D

Thanks to the Incipio Highland wallet case the only mark on it is a tiny salt grain sized pinprick dent near one of the speaker holes. It's a very thin case and doesn't look like it could protect the phone that much but it does. The cover is what saves my screen from my butt, the floor, my foot, my keys, etc.

Anyway I do laugh when I come back here to visit and see people still talking about bendgate and how fragile the phone is. Yeah, naked it is fragile and would never survive the day with me. But with the right case it's an amazing device that can do a lot and survive a lot. I do also have full insurance on it through AT&T.

The Incipio Highland was supposed to be a temporary case while I waited for Sena to release their wallet case. But the Highland has just been too much of a proven commodity at this point for a case so slim, so I've kept it and my husband has kept his. It doesn't hold credit cards and license very gracefully which is a drawback for a wallet style case. It CAN do it, just not as well as other wallet style cases. But there's no bulk.

I don't harbor any delusions that the case is always going to protect the phone from every drop--which is why I have the insurance and a cheap old backup phone on hand. I think we all know that all it takes is a certain combination of angle of drop, velocity, hardness of the impact surface and you'll get a shattered screen and/or damaged innards. I've been lucky more than anything. Believe it or not I do try to be careful, but there's always just so much going on and so much to do.

My 6 Plus fell from the car door pocket to the concrete. About 1 foot. Landed on corner then came to rest face down. The Apple leather case got scuffed but the phone suffered no damage.

You are very lucky indeed. :)

Slipped out of my jacket pocket and landed on the floor of the grocery store tonight. Apple leather case showed no scuffs, phone was still pristine.

I haven't yet, but I made the HUGE mistake of letting someone else drop my 6 Plus. We were in a touristy place and they insisted on taking a picture of me there using my phone so I'd have a selfie to post (they had good intentions, and even though I didn't want the picture, I didn't want to be rude and say no).

She's a Galaxy S3 user and her reason previously for not getting an iPhone was the screen was too small, and was commenting about how nice and big the 6+ screen is, so I ASSUMED she'd know how to deal with a big phone. Wrong.

I pose, she lines up the shot, and as her thumb moves to press the button, her hands slip and I see my phone fall. "Whoops!"

Had to grit my teeth and act calm as she picks it up and I walk back over to inspect the damage. Butterfingers was extremely apologetic. Thankfully, it was on grass and moist soil, so the corner got a bit muddy but it cleaned right off. No scratches. Whew.

Between that and to co-worker who insisted on putting my phone in his pocket, naked, WITH HIS KEYS JINGLING ALL OVER IT, I don't care about being rude anymore.

People keep asking me if they can put it in their pocket too! So far it has been in 3 co-workers pockets, luckily with the Apple Case still on though.

I wouldn't mind but 2 of the three people said 'oh, it's stupidly big how can you deal with that'. GRRRRRRRRRR

Not dropped yet but I have stained the screen with a cough AND a sneeze!!

I must have mucus like Alien!!

A week after I got mine, I took it out of my pocket to show a friend. It slipped out of my hand and landed screen first on concrete. I watched it in slow motion fall to the ground. It got a hairline crack from the home button up the left side of the phone. I took it to Apple the next day and they replaced it free of charge. I was expecting to pay the $129 screen replacement fee, but since it was a single hairline crack, it was covered under warranty.

The next day I got Applecare+ put on the phone.

So far so good for me - no drops. I have the Ghost Armor on it, but I realize that won't protect against drops. Nor will the apple leather case, so I'm very carful with it.

I will say due to the larger size, the risk of dropping seems higher as I pull it out of my pants pocket. It seems less grabbable (is that even a word?) then my old 5c, so I don't get as firm grip on it like the 5c.
