So, like many, I am debating what to do upgrade wise. I have the iPhone 7+ 128 currently on the Apple Upgrade Plan. I can't justify the price of the X 256 but I could justify it for an X 64GB over the iPhone 8+ 256. I haven't used all of my 128 GB currently and use iCloud to store photos and videos. Could I swing the drop to 64?

You could, but Apple expects you to pay the extra $200 to get 256 (+50 and +150).

Enjoy

Yup, with Apple Music/Spotify and iCloud Photos, I just don't need that much storage anymore so I'm going from iPhone 7 128GB to iPhone 8+ 64GB.

I’ve been thinking about the same thing and my current plan is that once I upgrade my 128GB 7, I’ll go for the 64GB 8 Plus. I want the better camera, I have both iCloud Photo Library and Google Photos for offloading the photos on the go, and the new more efficient image formats in iOS 11 should help with the storage needs. For after all, the 256GB Plus is really expensive and too close to iPhone X money.

Yea part of me is like, pay more for the 64GB X, but then I'm like, be smart and actually save some money and drop to the 8+ 64. The 256GB 8+ does feel like overkill.

same here...i am going from a 7+ 128 to a 8+ 64. But I would have gotten a 7+ 64 if it had been available last year to be honest. For my uses 32 is not quite enough while 128 is overkill. So 64 should do the job for me.

256GB is definitely overkill, but I’ve made the mistake before of not buying enough storage and regretted it.

My 64GB 5S was tight on storage space but when I got the 6 Plus I bought 64GB to save money (since the 6 Plus was already more money to begin with). I kept that phone for 2 years but I was forever deleting apps and offloading pictures to free up room. It wasn’t worth the hassle for $100 in savings.

I have a 128GB 7 Plus and am going to drop to 64GB X.

I had upwards of 100GB used on my 7 Plus, though 60+ GB was the photo library and another 15GB was iMessage history (set to keep 1 year). For the past few weeks I've been using a 64GB 6s, and it currently has 30GB used. With iCloud Photo Library and soon iMessage Sync, I'm not too worried about needing a ton of local storage.

Well I finally pulled the trigger and just ordered the 8+ 64. My iUP payment will actually be a few dollars less. I'm concerned about dropping from 128, but I'm assuming my iCloud storage optimization will be a little more aggressive in offloading full resolution pictures and videos to save space. I really really thought hard on the X, but just couldn't do it. Kind of trying to save money where I can right now.

I am for the 8+, and then back to 256 for the X. Working in the MDM industry, one of the few perks is access to each new phone for "testing" ;)

I'm going to try to get by with 64gb. I use apple music and have unlimited data with T-mobile, so I'll only locally store the music I need when hiking or in other remote places where I may not have service. I'm sure I can get by with it for a year, if it's frustrating, I'll go bigger next time. Music seems to be my biggest storage culprit so I imagine I'll do fine.

I only use 26GB out of 128 on the current iPhone 6 Plus. However, I am disappointed there isn't a 128GB choice in the fact it does seem odd to drop down from 128 to 64. They should have had 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB priced at $749, $849, and $949. Instead they force you to pay $150 more for a 256GB...instead of what should have been $100 more from 64GB to 128GB.

The have raised the price on everything...

I went from my 7 128gb to the 8 256gb. I use less than 64gb but don't want to cut it close or pay attention to usage. The deciding factor for me was cost per GB. The $700 for 64gb is $10.94 per GB. The $850 for 256gb is $3.32 per GB. Both are totally insane and rip offs, but when I look at it like that the 256 was a no-brainer.

only took 128GB because 32GB is full in no time.

now i'm currently at 28GB and i was not trying to save space. i have alot of apps i just downloaded because they are free. so most likely i'll go with 64GB.

i don't feel the need to have all my music with me, because it downloads so fast... or i'll just stream it.

I'm going from a 128 7+ to a 64 8. I was over the size of the + and am really looking forward to going smaller. I thought I would be bummed about the camera difference but truthfully I think I'll be much happier with the smaller phone. I was only using 50g of the 128 on my 7+ so going down to 64 doesn't seem like a big deal for me.

If I was to get the X, I'm not sure
I went with 128GB for 7, which I'm thankful I did.

Currently used around 37Gb, so 64GB might be okay but 256 is overkill but since there's no in between it would be a hard decision

Having lived with 64gb for the last two years with my 6s+, I went up to 256gb. It is very over kill and like another said above, it would have been great to have a middle tier 128gb option, which the 64gb was back when the 6s+ was new. Right now I have 10gb free. I use Google Play Music but I do keep an offline library on the phone for work, camping and other. I have to clear things off to make room for other media if I want to download a few movies. Big thing for me was not knowing how much larger picture and video sizes would get from the cameras especially if you start recording 4k@60FPS exclusively. 256gb will be overkill but 64gb was getting kind of cramped for me. If I did decide to go with the X, I would of stayed 64gb due to price alone.

I'm going to a 64gb 8+ from a 128gb 6. I'm only using about 34gb currently so I'm not too concerned about the space. I'd rather spend to have the bigger screen than more space.

Although it's a "64GB" phone, you won't realize all that space. You'll likely only have about 55GB available to you.

I was in a similar situation. I leaned-out my 128GB iP7 down to 50GB. But it's just not enough to squeeze into a 64GB iPhone. So, I ordered a 256GB iP8. Not happy with Apple for cutting out 128GB option.

I personally wouldn’t. 4K video is a beast. Especially at 60fps.

If you don’t take lots of video you probably will be fine with 64gb.
