Going from 128gb to 64gb. I use 64gb currently but 46 of them is photos. Thinking I’ll enable optimize photos this time to recoup some storage. Ios 11 is getting some really cool storage saving features so for me the storage is starting to be less important on my phone.

I toyed with the idea of going from 128gb to the 64gb iPhone X...I could do it because I know where my space hogs are and photos can be backed up to the cloud too...but I just don't want to have to manage my phone storage.

I do wish Apple would have made that 128GB...but they didn't.

I have 64GB. I use 30GB for on-device music and currently 7GB of photo+video. Free space is 3GB.

If I could use more streaming services, I might have less on-device music and 64GB would work fine. If I offloaded my photos and videos to iCloud, that'd still be like 11GB of storage. So I guess my point is that it depends on how you use the device.

[edit] I should answer the thread question...
I want more than 64GB on my next phone. If I choose X, I have to consider that photos and videos will take more storage than my 6 Plus.

How does iUP work exactly? I signed up for it when I first got my iPhone 7+ but that was last year and I don't remember. Once I pre-order say, the iPhone X, what do I have to do with my iPhone 7+? Do I take it to the Apple Store or do I mail it in?

Well this year they are shipping mailers to return the phone to them so both? Last year you had to bring the phones in which is what got everyone upset as you basically back of the line for iPhones in store.

64GB would be a tight squeeze. I'd have to get rid of some stuff and constantly juggle things and that won't be fun. 256GB is waaaay too much for my current needs. Downloading more porn should solve this problem though.

oh god NO! i have a 256 and i'll buy a 256.... however hubby will get the 64 X.... he's not a photo/app/video hoarder like i am! i want all my pictures, videos, music, apps, etc downloaded on ON my phone!

I have the 64GB iPhone 6 Plus and never has issue with space (Right now it shows Used: 28.01GB, Available: 31.85GB) If I take videos, photos they immediately get downloaded to my computer and removed from the phone. I upgraded to the same size for the new 8 Plus, there are a few apps I won't redownload, few albums I won't sync.

I am curious though about the 4K video, this feature on the iPhone will be new to me. If I DO use this file size a lot, that could add up fast. Only experience I have with shooting 4K videos is with my drone. Just a one min-90 second clip can push over 1GB in size. Only than that, I should be ok. I'll just keep my eye on the storage size...shouldn't be a major deal.

Just like the rest of, really disappointed with Apple's decision to exclude the 128 GB. To me, it's corporate greed at it's finest. We can all do ourselves favor and if we don't need the 256GB, get the 64GB. Really. It's just a matter of cleaning up space and archiving some photos to a cloud storage, etc. Most people are now streaming music instead of storing it locally as well. Very few people will need 256GB. Yes, it's annoying to have to archive some data, buf if it saves me a couple hundred dollars and doesn't deepen Apple's pockets, I am fine with that. Not to mention many of us are paying double storage besides large iCloud plans and large storage sizes in our iPhones.

I have a 128GB 6s and am using up half of it. 18GB is on pictures, so I checked off Optomize Phone Storage under Photos but it hasn't saved space yet all day. I read that it can take 1-2 weeks????

256GB is definitely overkill, but I’ve made the mistake before of not buying enough storage and regretted it.

My 64GB 5S was tight on storage space but when I got the 6 Plus I bought 64GB to save money (since the 6 Plus was already more money to begin with). I kept that phone for 2 years but I was forever deleting apps and offloading pictures to free up room. It wasn’t worth the hassle for $100 in savings.

Same here, had a 128GB for my 6s+ and will be getting a 256GB for my 8+.

I'm going from 128gb to 64gb. I am currently only using 52gb and that's with not even having the photos being 'optimized' so I could go through and actually save even more space if I wanted and actually clear out quite a few apps as well. I'd rather save the $150 plus I have a feeling the 256 gb X will be in higher demand. The cost isn't really a factor.

I currently have over 70+, but it's my opportunity to clean up my phone. Plus I pay for additional cloud storage, so I might as well use it. I can't see myself paying an extra $150 for extra space, that's Apple Care

I must be a minority here. Because I can easily survive on 32 GB of storage and even likely 16 GB of storage. I don't really have a lot of media on my iPhone. But I will be opting for the 64 GB iPhone X.

I wonder how rare I am? I'm using about 21GB on my 128GB 6s+. Getting a 256GB 8+. :) Can never have enough space.

Here's the thing. I came from a 64GB iPhone 6+, during that time, I was using about 25GB of space.

All of a sudden, here comes iPhone 7+ with 32 OR 128GB of space. Seeing that I'm cutting it close to 32GB, I needed to get 128GB.

Trend-wise I accumulate about 5-7GB of data every year (photos and increasing app sizes). so I ended up with 32GB on my 7+. Seeing that I won't be able to fill 64GB within a year or even 2 years, 64GB is a no-brainer for me.

Frankly, I'm happy Apple is upfront about their price increase this year. They just want that extra $50 income/margin for the 64GB base storage. Instead of giving us another 32GB base storage, they said: "Hey, give us $50 and you get that 64GB sweet spot instead of forking $100 for 128GB."

Now for, you Mr. BigMcGuire, you'll have to really study your storage habits and ask yourself how long are you planning on keeping the phone. If you switch phones regularly (every year) then getting a huge storage device is not really economical for the fact that you might not even fill it up by the time you need to change devices. BUT if you are going to keep using it for 2-3 years then you might need those extra space down the line.

I dropped from 128GB iPhone 6 to 64GB iPhone 7.
No regrets.

I am on 256GB and no regrets so far :p

I know another person who is living on 16GB happily.

After you fill your new phone make a backup into your computer in case you need another new iphone 256GB :p

I am also on the Apple upgrade program and am thinking about upgrading vs not upgrading

Didn't drop but ive had my 64GB 6+ for exactly 3 years now, and i still have 24GB of open space. LOL.
