Low 80's here in houston god gotta love this weather. Hated the few days we got +100F tho.

I also love Winter. Living in Florida it is near December before we get cold and it is only a few days at a time.

Do not need my watch displayed on my wrist to feel good.

Hate winter because running is much less fun this time of year, but watch would only increase in utility as I'll have my phone buried in a coat pocket.

I just wear mine loose and down below the cuff of my shirt, jacket, etc.

What's wrong with 20's? It's perfect winter weather! Warm enough to stay active outside, but not too warm to melt the snow, which ruins all of the fun outdoor activities.
Most of the time, here in Canada, we get about -10 to -15 degrees (celsius), not to mention the very cold wind, snowstorms and snowfalls which are pretty common. Also, cold weather always makes my face very dry, which makes me very uncomfortable.

I freakin love this time of year! Huddling around the fire or grill talking about women or how our football team broke our hearts. Bundling up for the cold, and scraping ice off the windshield before work. Wondering if snow is going to hit South Carolina, but it never does. And if it actually does snow, nothing beats the feeling of shaky cold hands from trying to build a snowman with the half an inch of show that stuck. Leaves falling. Seeing your own breath. Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner. I wouldn't trade if for the world man.

But yeah I've worn a watch since I was a kid and have never had a problem. If anything, the extra clothing is a minor inconvenience.

Not a good idea to brag this year. Hopefully your Apple Watch will hold up while you are trying to swim out of the floods we are going to get this winter because of El Niño.

You know they predict that *every* year, right?

That means putting on layers of sweaters, jackets, gloves, etc. That also means the Apple Watch will cease to be useful for several months, at least when outdoors.

So far I had to put on a coat a few times as the weather gets cooler and found it to be a pain to try to roll up my sleeve to check a notification. However, since I still feel the notification at least I know when to check my phone, which helps.

Anyone else feel the pain and/or have strategies to maximize their enjoyment of the Apple watch in the winter?
Im in california, what's this winter o_O

Some of you really haven't worn a watch in years, have you?

It doesn't have anything to do with that. I've been wearing mechanical watches for as long as I can remember but they are only used to tell the time which isn't very often. A smart watch however is used for various types of functionality and far more often so wearing long sleeves especially a a coat with tight fitting sleeves like my North Face rain coat makes using it very difficult. This morning rather then using my watch to pay with ApplePay in the coffee shop I had to take my phone out of my pocket. Today was the first time I couldn't use ApplePay on my watch.

I went to that sight mentioned in Post #14, and was rattled when I saw that it was 7º today in Montreal, Canada. Also those brutally cold average temps for January. I couldn't see how it could be 7º in Montreal today while it is 81º here in central Illinois. Where not that far apart. Then I remembered that Canada like the rest of the sane world uses Celsius instead of Fahrenheit for temperature measurement and every thing made sense.

Since I had a Pebble watch before I had my :apple: Watch I'm used to doing a sleeve raise to see the watch when I get a notification. Had to do it last week when we had cool enough temps to wear long-sleeved sweat shirts. I'll survive the winter. It will get more complicated when you have to wear gloves. Since the Pebble did not have a screen like the :apple: Watch I didn't have to worry about taking my gloves off to work the watch. My gloves do have the special fingertips on them for working the iPhone screen so they should work for the watch as well.

I'm laughing at how hard you make your life sound.

I haven't really had any issues with long sleeves or coats, and I wear my watch pretty high and tight, although I do reverse my crown position, so the speaker/mic is aimed away from my sleeve.

Actually: it's more about the Apple Watch being more useful and doing more things. I certainly look at my Apple Watch about 1000x more than I used to look at my regular watch.

If a jacket was covering my regular watch and I was holding a coffee in my other hand it wasn't a big deal to not be able to see the time (I basically know what time it is anyway). If my wrist is getting blown up with messages and they are covered up by clothing and I can't check them that's a much bigger annoyance.

The Watch has become an important part of the way I receive information all day. Having it covered up sucks :)

I tried my North Face gloves that have the tips for using your phone. They don't work so wel with the Watch.

You can do basic things like swipe down a notification to dismiss it... But anything else and the gloves are just not accurate enough.

Not a big deal... it's better than nothing!

If I were to complain, the sleeves take away the single hand operation of the watch. With short sleeves, its pick up the arm and look at the display. With long sleeves, its pick up the arm and with the other hand, pull back the sleeve. Running with long sleeves adds to the fun if you're watching your pace. My running shirts though are thin enough that I can see my pace shine through the fabric so not too bad there.

I would have not complained at all if I hadn't been adding to this thread. Winter adds this complication in general, having to add layers to do anything outside. The benefit though is I can heat my garage pretty easy for projects but can't really cool it down. I could but the process is much more difficult and expensive.

I believe what you're trying to say is that this has been a problem for as long as wristwatches have existed and no one should complain about this ever.

I'm not sure why you're laughing. You have a very odd sense of humour if you are. There is nothing funny about what i said what so ever and frankly I find your comment insulting. You obviously couldn't care less about the impracticalities of wearing coats in terms of using a watch even a mechanical one let alone a smart watch but that doesn't mean others shouldn't or that it's frivolous because it definitely isn't. In all honesty your comment just shows a lack of maturity on your part.
