Thanks everyone, very interesting replies. I thought the title of the thread would stir up some interest.

Maybe it is my eyes, the quality of the light, or you folks in the States get a better screen or something. Even the guys in the Apple store this afternoon didn't seem overly surprised that I was returning it seeing as I had an ipad 2!

I like new Apple devices having recently bought a 4s and have never taken anything back in all the years I have had Apple kit.

Yes - am returning mine and keeping my iPad 2. Has not taken my own advice and bought the 3 on a whim. Not worth it - TO ME.

Hmm, almost 20 people in this thread gave the original post a negative vote. I don't get it. Are you giving him negatives because you don't agree? That'd be pretty hypocritical.

I dont blame you. I am going to return the ipad 3 i bought and buy a refurb ipad 2. Before it was released, i said i wasn't going to get one until i was able to test both devices. I went into Best buy on Friday and checked both out. While there is a difference, it is not really that drastic between the 2. I still went and bought the 3 but i t think its gong back right on march 24th in time for the refurb to get to me.

This is my first Ipad so the 2 looks amazing to me as well. Good luck with your 2.

the retina display addition on the iphone 4 was a huge difference. The same addition on the ipad screen just makes the device for me.

I've loved each gen ipad and iphone i've ever had and honestly never thought about reverting back after upgrading at any point.

But that just my opinion.

Hi,

Got my 32gb Wi-Fi + 4G on release day with a view to selling my ipad 2.

Very disappointed overall with the new ipad so took it back today for a full refund.

To sum it up:

A little heavier, a little thicker, and not a lot better than my ipad 2. Chunky!

The amazing, awesome, jaw dropping retina display that so many on this forum are drooling about somewhat brings to mind 'The King's New Clothes'!

Text looks a bit better, photos maybe if you look hard enough.

I don't take photos with the ipad or play games so the rest shows only marginal improvement. Certainly not enough to justify ditching the 2.

I'm quite satisfied with the new iPad and am selling the iPad2 through eBay for $450.
