ordered on both apple and AT&T sites. got CC auths on both orders, Got tracking numbers on both orders. Though as of this morning, only the apple order has actually tracking history. the AT&T tracking number says "not found" on Fedex's website and has said that for the past few days. I assume AT&T caught the issue and pulled it from shipping.

Ok scratch that, the duplicate AT&T order tracking ID just went from "Not found" to "Shipment information sent to Fedex".
 
The thing is I have not gotten any email like that yet though. If it matters I am on a premier plan with my dad as the main account holder (though I am authorized to make changes), and upgrading a line, so I don't know if I should be getting an email or if it is just for new regular customers or something.

I have never seen such and email. Also, I think this would not be done after the fact and I believe you accept T&C as a part of ordering.

yea, now that you mention it I am sure i already accepted the terms while checking out when ordering the phone.

At first I was gonna laugh at the OP but I think there is good info here, and this is a good lesson for people to NOT pre-order twice! So I'm glad he posted.
 
So i ended up with 2 phones (one from AT&T and one from Apple) both pre-ordered using one phone number that was eligible for upgrade.

The AT&T phone came with all the AT&T paperwork on upgrading etc. The Apple one didn't come with anything, just the phone.

I paid the $199 price from Apple and $199 from AT&T so technically i did pay for the phones. But my concern is with the SIM card in the Apple shipped phone. Since the apple shipment didn't come with any paperwork indicating a phone line used to purchase the phone, is it possible there is no number assigned to the SIM inside? (AT&T phones arrive with the SIM already setup with the number you used to upgrade on).

If i sell the phone, can the buyer upgrade without any affiliation with my account?

Before people flame me about being dishonest. This isn't a situation where i paid for 1 phone and got 2. for that i would contact apple and return one. I DID pay the upgrade price for each phones. So nothing is stolen or FREE here.
