I have iTunes Radio ad-free and I still can't stand using it.

Pandora is leaps ahead as far as it's mixing algorithm. iTunes radio will give me the same songs over and over and over until I finally tell it to never play it again:(

They should have bought Songza. It's mind blowing to me that they paid FIVE BILLION for crappier company and a few weeks later Google snapped up Songza, a much better app, for less than two orders of magnitude less. If I were an Apple investor I'd be terrified.

I have to agree that iTunes Radio - compared to Pandora and Songza - is by far inferior.

The recommendations are good, but it lacks variety. Even though I selected exactly this. I always here the same bands, the same songs. When I listened to a station for, let's say, four or five hours ( doing a project etc. ), I probably a few songs twice and only 6 or 7 different bands. Also, sometimes it just stopped working and I had to either restart the the phone or wait for a few minutes.

The best service by far is Songza, though. After I tried iTunes Radio, I used Pandora which was, at that time, really eye-opening. But then, I discovered Songza.

New bands, new genres, new everything. No repetitions, professionally crafted playlists according to specific moods and activities. I LOVE IT! It's my constant companion along with Spotify on the road.

Anyone else fed up with iTunes Radio?

I agree. ^ Spotify is, imho the best paid music service. The day a new cd is released, it is available on Spotify. You can also make any song, playlist or album available offline so you don't have to use data when listening.

As a side note, I also love the Podcasts app. It is so much nicer than any android app out there when I was on android.

Another music app that I like is tune in radio. I paid for the app on android and the only benefit that it offered over the free version is the ability to record live radio. But honestly, who wants to try and record live radio. So the free version is more than enough for me. I can search US wide for any genre or local radio stations.

As for the iTunes Radio, I only use it for my local music.
