This better be BS coming from that salesperson.

I hope so... I asked what the point of preordering was after he told me I could try waiting in line on the 24th. He responded that most people on launch day end up empty handed for a few weeks/a month and at least I would have the peace of mind that I have one reserved. What a load of BS!!!!!

We still haven't recieved any sort of e-mail confirmation and the credit cards show nothing. I wouldn't be suprised if the employees left the store tonight and still haven't put the manual reciepts in the computer.

We gave AT&T so much of our business today (3 iphone preorders & a new uverse tv/internet/landline contract) and I am really regretting it now. :( I am calling the store manager in the morning. He knows us pretty well because he did our uverse contract today and I want to see what he has to say about this mess.

And people wonder why I refuse to get ATT just to get an iphone:rolleyes:

No thanks. Android is running my next phone.

back order status just lifted. Yah! I hope it sticks. :D

Apparently the pen and paper method is going to work like it should? :confused:

EDIT: Just received a confirmation email from AT&T;

EDIT: Just received a confirmation email from AT&T;

I wonder why yours didnt have the SIM card in the order. Mine had the Freight, Various SIM, and iPhone 4 Black. Also i'm upgrading, not a new customer

Me and my brother got to the store at like 9:30 this morning... we don't live in a big area, but the store was already opened and there was quite a few people in. They took our #'s and offered people water that we're waiting. While we waited more people came in, plus I had a friend who works there do our orders. As we came in and waited, they had a big meeting talking about how to do the manual orders since the systems we're down... kinda funny in a way lol

So my friend processed our orders with the old credit card swipe... this was like by 10:30 or so, then I checked my bank account a little while later and the pending charge was there. Not too long after that he texted me and told me my order got through, this was close to 3PM.

I got the e-mail about 5 or so and checked it and it doesn't say backordered, just says In Progress. So I guess I'm gonna check with him one more time, but basically I'm gonna go to the store (since he had it shipped there) on the 24th and pick mine up... hopefully it's not a problem.

But yeah for all the pen & paper people, those who waited and came first, should come before all those who did it later

I got one and I'm regretting it now. I don't have an order number or any kind of conformation. I'm really disappointed with the way all of this has gone down. I got him to ship it to the store instead of my house and he told me if I show up the 24th I can get my phone. I don't believe him and I'll probably go back tomorrow to make sure they shredded my credit card imprint.
As for getting my phone on the 24th...I think I better bring a chair to the front door around 5:00 in the morning. :(

Login to your ATT account page at
https://www.att.com/olam/dashboardAction.olamexecute
(Then Check "Order Status"... it should be linked to your account... keyword: should)

What really boggles my mind is that they didn't think to start processing these in the order they came in the minute the computers went back online a few hours later. Instead they pushed the orders aside and processed the other walk ins so they get their phones before the people who were there first. :mad::mad::mad:

Yeah... I suspected the same thing! :rolleyes:

Just an update for those who got the "pen and paper" treatment at AT&T stores yesterday:

The sales rep who took my order yesterday morning called me around 8:00am and told me that he had successfully processed my order. He said that everyone who came into the store yesterday to pre-order an iPhone had their orders taken down on paper. Since I was first in line yesterday, he assured me that my order was the store's first to be processed and that I should still be receiving the phone by the 25th. (This is the Orland Park, IL store.) I just checked on AT&T's order status page, and my order has indeed been processed:
