All google searching of these phone numbers leads to other forum posts about these numbers.

indeed, that's what i don't get about this entire situtation, this number even showed up in sprint.com's forum. and somehow it's active when iphone 4s was out or something

1) Untrue. They're "activated" in the sense that the numbers are reserved and the account is setup.

2) In some cases they ship them live, and in other cases they ship them in a "reserved" status, meaning they're activated, but they're suspended until you call.

1a) You're guessing or you misunderstand how things work.

2a) Your statement "In some cases they ship them live" is absolutely untrue. It doesn't even make sense. "activated & suspended" is really over the top story telling.

When one takes delivery of their phone, they must call the carrier, pass the I.D. verification, and then & only then, is the phone activated. Prior to these steps the phone is a brick.

Please refrain from posting erroneous information. Thank You .

It appears the number listed is a legit apple number. I don't think anyone got scammed.

Where do you see that it's legitimate? I tried searching and ended up in circles with other forum posts.

NOT correct. 1 of my 3 phones I ordered from Apple is now active, the other two have numbers but are suspended billing.

Seriously, stop it. If you don't have personal knowledge, don't comment. I'm not posting erroneous information. Why do you think they require shipping to the address on file? That's called ADDRESS VERIFICATION.

Go troll elsewhere.

For what it's worth, I got one of these emails. It was because I was porting my number and the new account and old account's names weren't the same and they just wanted to confirm everything.

I got the same email, took about 20 mins for the rep from india to figure out why i received the email in the first place. I purchased my phone at full retail in order to keep my unlimited data on Verizon. The rep finally came back and said something about my expected price for data was like $29.99 and he said he was going to fix it. I'm not sure what the deal was. I do get an employee discount and my unlimited data is usually only 22.50 or something like that.
